"$4.00 is too expensive, I'll just climb these walls. No big deal."

This is probably what Ma Jei was thinking. She climbed the walls of Zhonghua Gate Castle, in Nanjing, China to dodge the $4.00 (25 yuan) entrance fee. The climb is 70 ft up the rugged stone block wall of the castle built in the 14th century. She did not have any harness or any kind of protective equipment as astonished tourists looked on.

Well, Ma Jei has just been doing this since she was a child. She would climb these walls and never once paid to get in.

One tourist said that she just suddenly ran up the wall making the climb look so easy. So, her actions encouraged some "thrifty"

tourists to do the same. Unfortunately, they weren't as lucky. Two fell and broke their legs and the police had to rescue three more stranded midway up the wall.

There are things we not only take for granted but also complain about them. So the next time you take out 4 dollar bills to spend at Starbucks, think of what other people would risk just to save it.

People will go to a lot of effort to save even a few cents, yet they never stop to check their bills - what can save them couple of tens dollars a year.

Great story. Those idiots who fell and croke their legs will think again next time. All for $4. Not worth it! You tell your story well, my friend. Nice to know you her on Experts Column as well as Triond. You belong anywhere else? Be interesting to find out.

Thanks Sheila... I know how annoying it is to comment here at EC and I am grateful that you took the time to do it. Triond and ExpertsColumn are the only ones where I write right now. I might try RedGage - I heard some good things about it. Will research on other sites as well.
