Some people keep their homes meticulously clean. They keep every part of their homes neat and tidy. There won’t be even a grain of sand on the floor or a speck or a stain. The floor will shine like a mirror and you will be able to see the reflection of your face on it. Everything will be kept neat and tidy and arranged in order, even the most trivial things. When I see such a home I often wonder-Is this a home or a museum?
I have a relative living not far away from my home. She is very fond of keeping her home spotlessly clean. The floor of every room will be mopped twice daily, once in the morning and once in the evening. The floor always shines like a mirror. When I go there I find it difficult to enter her home and step on to the floor inside lest I should soil it.
There are a lot of curios exhibited in a show case kept in the drawing room. There won’t be a single particle of dust on any of them. Each of them is kept in a particular spot and she won’t tolerate seeing any of them displaced by an inch.
Each piece of furniture has a particular place assigned. Nobody is allowed to move them even a little. The curtains, table cloth etc. will be changed every three days and so, there won’t be even a particle of dirt or dust on any of them.
You will find a number of magazines and books kept meticulously arranged in an order in a rack in the drawing room. They are intended for the visitors to read. But when I make a visit, I never dare to grab any of them for fear of upsetting their arrangement.
I feel very uneasy when I enter that house. I will hesitate to sit on a sofa or a chair in the drawing room fearing that I may soil the spotlessly clean fabric spread on them. There are no little children to upset these arrangements. I often wonder what she will do when a baby is born to her son.
It is a sort of obsession for some people to give too much importance to cleanliness and order. Of course there should be a fair level of cleanliness and order. But it should not be something like a mania. If it is, it becomes really boring. What do you think about it?

yeah some people take pleasure in being house proud! It's nice if they enjoy...but sometimes it can become a pain with all the maintenance work to do.
What you said is true. Thank you for the visit and comment.
Cleanliness is good for personal hygiene but it should have a certain limitation.
Thank you Sujay. I agree with you.
Last time I went to clean my living room window sill I found that it was a museum - a museum of dead flies!
Thank you for the visit and the humorous comment.
Some people with Asperger Syndrome or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, are prone to cleaning like this.
What you said is true. Thank you.
I'd rather think my home as a home rather than a museum. But sometimes my wife tells me to get rid of the old stuffs as our house sometimes looks like an antic museum.

I am always very uncomfortable in such homes. Cleanliness is important, but so is actually living in the house. The worst part for me is that when the owners of such homes come over to another person's house, they tend to nit-pick everything in your home. It's not okay to judge people just because their home looks lived in rather than magazine quality. I think the worst thing yet is living with a person like this....I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you can help it!
I agree with you totally. Cleanliness is important. But, it should not become an obsession. Thank you for visiting my page and leaving your comment.
