It's been awhile that I consider myself blind I believe because
I need to wear glasses since my high school days. It runs in the
family I guess that we all have eye problems. In my case
I don't normally wear my glasses all the time for the reason that
it's uncomfortable and the only time I wear it is when I need
to watch movies. It's not necessary for me to wear my
eye glasses if I need to read books or maybe in front of my
computer because I was diagnosed of myopia or nearsightedness.

Myopia is a vision condition in which one can see close objects clearly
but objects farther away appears blurred. According from most
medical books, it's inherited and it’s a kind of eye focusing disorder
not an eye disease. Myopia is due to excessive
reading and too much work and they said it's about lifestyle .
When I was a kid, I love reading books and until now I continue
to read a lot and sometimes it doesn't matter if it's dark or I’m
on a well lighted place as long as I can read. In my own experience
it's quite hard especially if I hate wearing glasses or contacts
for there are times people thinks I am such a snob but the thing is I
really can't see them and it's so hard to explain .

I once thought of LASIK or Laser eye surgery to correct my myopia
because they said that aside from the procedure that it's not painful
and it's quick, you will have your sight back the next day and I
think that's absolutely cool. On the second thought , I was told
that LASIK is quite a fortune like around $2000 for the procedure.
But maybe I will just settle for more economical choices, it’s
recession and I am one of those cutting corners .

Considering my eye problem, I also thought that there are people
who have eyes but can't really see. We are blinded by material things,
fame and fortune but we fail to look and see the true beauty of
our existence. We fail to see the blessings we receive everyday and the
people around us like our family or dear friends that we tend to neglect.
We continue to have eyes but we fail to see the goodness and kindness
of others who care for us and love us . Most of all we have eyes to see
but we always fail to reach out for those that we see who are in dire
needs. What about you? Are you nearsighted as well?
