WWF RAW is WAR for December 28th 1998 featured the WWF Hardcore Championship on the line when The Road Dogg defended against Mankind. Plus Shawn Michaels has some heat with Mr. McMahon given the fact that he allowed Shane to be beaten. This is Part 95 of the WWF Attitude Era Series.

WWF Attitude Era Series Part 95: WWF RAW is WAR 12/28/98

On WCW Starrcade 1998

Goldberg's winning streak ended against Kevin Nash thanks to Scott Hall and a taser stun gun. Plus Eric Bischoff scored a cheap win over Ric Flair and Diamond Dallas Page beat the Giant in his last Pay Per View Match. In the highlight match of the night, Kidman kept the WCW Cruiserweight Title over Juventud Guerrera and Rey Mysterio and then also beat Eddie Guerrero. The biggest show of the year did not really work all that well for WCW.

On WCW Nitro 12/28/98

Ric Flair stripped down to his boxers and challenged Eric Bischoff to a match. Flair won with the Four Horsemen and Randy Savage helping fight off the NWO among others. Flair became the WCW President for 90 days. The show was a miss other than that. The big return match between Kevin Nash and Goldberg was set up for next week and nothing will ever be the same again.

WWF RAW is WAR 12/28/98

The Corporation jumps Mankind in the boiler room, beating him up. Mr. McMahon plans to fire Shawn Michaels next week and overrides his match between Val Venis and the Road Dogg, putting Mankind in a match with Road Dogg for the WWF Hardcore Title.

The Corporation beat up Val Venis before that match could happen. Then DX runs out and Mr. McMahon promises some pain and blues for the rest of DX tonight.

Al Snow arrives, still covered in blood from last week's blood bath.

Mr. McMahon sets up Kane to go after DX.

Edge defeated Al Snow via disqualification

Al Snow absolutely beats down Edge, going to beat him down and waffles him with Head. Al Snow beats down everyone, including the Brood and the JOB Squad with Head. Not too much in this one, really just a backdrop to the fact that the bloodbath turned Al Snow even more insane.

Dennis Knight randomly shows up backstage after missing for months, after someone called him there.

Sable retained the WWF Women's Title over the Spider Lady via disqualification

Sable's stalker, who would later be revealed to be Tori is back. Spider Lady beats Sable with a belt and it's Luna Vachon underneath the mask. The Oddities make the save and we have a heel turn.

X-Pac defeated Big Bossman via disqualification

Test attacks X-Pac after a fair enough match. Val Venis runs out to get himself some revenge on Test from after what happened earlier.

Some Rocky Style Training with Shane and Vince McMahon, leading to Mr. McMahon being in the Royal Rumble.

Goldust and Steve Blackman defeated Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett

Another decent little tag team match. Dan Severn shows up and Blackman scores with a roll up. Given that this is the Christmas holidays, this show isn't too bad just average.

The Acolytes destroy Dennis Knight in the parking lot and shove him in the back of the car. And no one cares.

Triple H defeated Ken Shamrock via disqualification

Shamrock gets disqualified for refusing to break the Ankle Lock. Not too bad of the match but kind of a weak finish. We have another scuffle for the Corporation and DX.

More fun with Ken Shamrock and Billy Gunn who yell at each other.

Mark Henry is out to apologize about what has been happening to Chyna. D'Lo Brown is there. PMS walk down to the ring and D'Lo calls them a pair of ring rats. Chyna is out and Chyna beats up Jacqueline. Chyna tells Mark Henry that she'll see him later, if you know what I mean.

Godfather gets destroyed and will be replaced by Kane in his match with Billy Gunn.

Kane battled Billy Gunn to a no contest.

Another screwy finish, with Kane destroying Billy Gunn. Then Shamrock helps destroy Billy Gunn some more. Then DX runs out yet again and we have another scuffle between DX and the Corporation.

Road Dogg retained the WWF Hardcore Championship over Mankind

Another rather fun garbage battle here on RAW. The Rock is on commentary for this match and that is about the highlight you would expect. The Rock knocks out Mankind with the Rock Bottom and Road Dogg gets the pin.

It is time for Shawn Michaels to be fired. Mr. McMahon calls out the Commissioner to do the deed. McMahon doesn't quite have the catchphrase down but he eats a Superkick. Shawn Michaels runs as the Corporation rush out.

WWF Sunday Night Heat opens up 1999 with a bang with the Road Dogg taking on Test and Big Bossman and Ken Shamrock facing off against Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett in Part 96 of the WWF Attitude Era Series.
