On this night, we will see who goes to face Stone Cold Steve Austin at Wrestlemania 15, when Mankind takes on the Rock in the Ladder Match. Plus, Paul Wight is here and no doubt he'll make a giant impact in the World Wrestling Federation. This is WWF RAW is WAR 2/15/99, Part 111 of the WWF Attitude Era Series.

WWF Attitude Era Series Part 111: WWF RAW is WAR 2/15/99

On WCW Nitro 2/15/99

Ric Flair was beaten up in the desert for a long time by mysterious masked men who turned out to be the NWO as camera men watched. Yet the announcers didn't, as Bobby Heenan wondered if Ric Flair was drunk, as he stumbled right to the ring. Then the NWO beat up Ric Flair some more. That is a theme, Ric Flair getting beaten up.

WWF RAW is WAR 2/15/99

We are out and Shawn Michaels comes out, to formally announce the Wrestlemania 15 main event, between the WWF Champion Mankind and defending challenger Stone Cold Steve Austin. Not so fast, as the Rock wants one more match, due to the inclusive finish last night. It will be a Ladder Match and Stone Cold Steve Austin will have a front row seat ringside on commentary to see who will challenge him for the title. And Paul Wight is brought out, as he will be the special guest referee for Wrestlemania 15.

Jeff Jarrett and Debra battled Ivory and D'Lo Brown to a no contest

Not much of a match. The referee throws out the match, when Debra and Ivory get into a scuffle that he cannot break up. Then Debra nails Ivory right with the guitar after the match.

X-Pac and Triple H walk out. They want another match with Chyna and Kane. Chyna confines. In the interest of rhyming, it will be Kane and Shane (McMahon) against X-Pac and Triple H. The WWF European Championship will be on the line.

Mankind struggles climbing a ladder.

WWF Intercontinental Champion Val Venis defeated Billy Gunn with a German Suplex

Fair action between these two, they cut a nice and fun pace right through this match. Ryan Shamrock is sacrificed and Val Venis snaps off a German Suplex for the pin. After the match, in the grand tradition of Venis, Val dumps another woman to the curb.

Ken Shamrock beats up Billy Gunn for trying to pick up his sister on the rebound.

The Undertaker cut a promo. The Ministry will rule the WWF. Big Bossman wants revenge and it will be members of the Ministry against members of the Corporation in a six man tag team match. All of them are heels.

Shane McMahon and Kane defeated X-Pac and Triple H when Shane pinned X-Pac to win the European title

Shane can take a beating, even this is nowhere near as insane as his efforts later when he jumps from high places and gets put right through glass. Chyna gets involved and Shane uses the belt on X-Pac for the win. Decent action and Shane is the new WWF European Champion. Really the belt did get kind of elevated with the X-Pac/D'Lo Brown matches but after that feud was over, it was the beginning of the end.

Shane McMahon celebrates his win.

Hardcore Holly retained the WWF Hardcore Title over Steve Blackman

It is a brand new day for the former Sparky Plugg. Not as good as the Road Dogg hardcore matches, but a pretty decent match in its own way. Droz interferes and Blackman loses. Then Holly mocks his past and his previous partners. Bart Gunn returns from the Phantom Zone and attacks Holly.

Sable is out, to announce her Playboy Cover. Out comes her stalker and Sable rips into her. This is her heel turn which seemed kind of random but the fact is Sable's fame was going to her head. Later on that would become rather funny given what happened in real life.

We were supposed to have the Acolytes and Mideon against Test, Ken Shamrock, and Big Bossman but there was a brawl. Undertaker has Shane McMahon and chokes him out, but gives Shane an envelope to give to his father. So it begins.

The Rock regained the WWF Championship against Mankind in a Ladder Match

Another good match as Stone Cold Steve Austin watches on commentary. The original plan was a Triple Threat Match between Rock, Mankind, and Austin but Shawn Michaels argued against that one and now it is Rock and Austin. Which I have no problems with. Paul Wight, not yet the Big Show, enters the ring and choke slams Mankind right off of the ladder, which allows the Rock to keep the championship.

Rock and Austin is your main event at Wrestlemania 15.

Shane McMahon will defend his WWF European Title for the first time on Sunday Night Heat in Part 112 of the WWF Attitude Era Series.
