The WWF Attitude Era series continues, for a special World Wrestling Federation Championship match that took place during the halftime of Super Bowl XXXIIII in 1999, with the Rock defending the World Wrestling Federation Championship against Mankind. That is to take place on Halftime Heat on January 31st 1999. But first in the arena, before halftime kicks on, we have two matches in the arena, with one half of the new WWF Tag Team Champions Jeff Jarrett taking on the Big Bossman and the other half of the new WWF Tag Team Champions Owen Hart taking on Ken Shamrock.

This is WWF Halftime Heat, WWF Sunday Night Heat for January 31st 1999, and Part 105 in the WWF Attitude Era Series.

WWF Attitude Era Series Part 105: WWF Halftime Heat

The Corporation makes their way down to the ring and Chyna talks about why she joined the Corporation. She was a bit player in DX and now its her time to shame. DX is out and some back and forth between the two groups, setting up Triple H against Kane in a Steel Cage Match the next night on WWF RAW is WAR.

We cut to the empty arena, and Mankind arrives in a rental car, tipping the driver.

Big Bossman pinned Jeff Jarrett

Last Monday, the Corporation lost to Jeff Jarrett and Owen Hart and the WWF Tag Team Championship switched hands. This is the first of two vengeance attempts for the Corporation and Bossman hits the Bossman Slam on Jarrett. Fine match and Bossman beats up Jeff Jarrett, nailing him with a nightstick.

The Rock and Mr. McMahon arrive at the Empty Arena. Mr. McMahon will be doing some commentary.

Ken Shamrock defeated Owen Hart

We revisit their feud in 1998 with one more match. The Black Blue Blazer shows up for the last time, but his interference is bungled. Then Shamrock drills Owen with a belly to belly suplex, covering him for the pin.

Not quite time for the halftime show, so we kill some time with some clips from the previous Monday on RAW is WAR.

Mankind defeated the Rock to win the WWF Championship in an Empty Arena Match

Vince McMahon is on commentary and if you ever wanted to find out what wacky babyface Vince McMahon would be like a heel, no wonder. McMahon compares the World Wrestling Federation to action adventure, drama, and Road Runner during this match. Yes, Road Runner. Well given Vince Russo's booking around this time or any time, it often looks like it was going off of the cliff like Wile E. Coyote, but I digress.

This is not a great match by any means, but it is rather entertaining. Some mild brawling, before we go into the zany insanity, with popcorn bags, hotsauce, the Rock answering the phone, all kinds of absurdity. But of course, the Attitude was serious business that had no comedy, fans will tell you that. Meanwhile, Mankind uses the Socko Claw and commandeers a forklift, asking politely. Campy shot of the Rock and he is trapped under beer kegs and this naturally gets the pin. Mankind is the World Wrestling Federation Champion for a second time.

The WWF Attitude Era Series continues with Part 106, with WWF RAW is WAR on February 1st 1999, with Kane taking on Triple H in a Steel Cage Match.
