Writing for Yahoo! Voices

Many sites on the Internet allow writers to earn an extra income, whether it is through upfront payments or passive income, but it can be difficult to find reliable sites or sites which offer a good return for the time put into writing and promoting articles.

Expertscolumn offers a great opportunity for writers, and pays a fair amount to its contributors. However, there are other opportunities to have your work published which can be used in addition to Expertscolumn.

One such site is Yahoo! Voices. Yahoo! Voices has a wide range of categories including an entertainment section, business, health, news and creative writing channels, among others. Published articles get shared across a range of Yahoo! Sites and you can add pictures and videos as well as articles.

On the site, it does state you need to be a resident of the US to join, and you have the chance to earn through assignments and up-front payments, which can between $2-25; payments are made via PayPal. However, I live in the UK and when I signed up, I had no problems, but this may be because if I signed up when the site was still known as Associated Content.

The site has a full set of submission guidelines and Yahoo! states that it wants original material and not work that has been rehashed or published elsewhere; they want users to use their own voice and provide fresh content. The site also gives clear formatting guidelines which you’ll need to read before submitting your work.
