One such site is Yahoo! Voices. Yahoo! Voices has a wide range of categories including an entertainment section, business, health, news and creative writing channels, among others. Published articles get shared across a range of Yahoo! Sites and you can add pictures and videos as well as articles.
On the site, it does state you need to be a resident of the US to join, and you have the chance to earn through assignments and up-front payments, which can between $2-25; payments are made via PayPal. However, I live in the UK and when I signed up, I had no problems, but this may be because if I signed up when the site was still known as Associated Content.
The site has a full set of submission guidelines and Yahoo! states that it wants original material and not work that has been rehashed or published elsewhere; they want users to use their own voice and provide fresh content.
