For you cricket lovers out there, you might be familiar with the name Peter Roebuck – the brilliant write who was a former first-class cricketer. Peter Roebuck jumped to his death from his hotel window in South Africa yesterday after he was questioned by police over an alleged sexual assault. The 55-year-old renowned cricket writer was in South Africa to cover the ongoing Test series when he ended his life.
According to police in South Africa, the English-born Roebuck fell to his death from the Southern Sun Hotel in which he stayed in Cape Town. According to local reports, Roebuck got extremely agitated after he was questioned by police from the sexual crimes unit about his alleged sexual assault. Roebuck then called a fellow cricket journalist and friend for help. He said: “Can you come down to my room quickly? I’ve got a problem,” He also asked the fellow cricket journalist to help him find a lawyer. But alas! Roebuck did not wait for the arrival of the lawyer, minutes after making this frantic call he took his life by plunging to death from his hotel window. Peter Roebuck was arguably one of the finest cricket writers of his generation.
