Wow! 437 Page Views In Less Than 24 Hours For One Poem Alone! At Expertscolumn!

Yes, in less than 24 hours after I wrote a poem--repeat, a poem.

That is not to say that I found myself unique to accomplishing such a feat because I know others above my level of inventiveness (okay, creativity) have chalked up much more points. And besides, I don't keep tabs on great writers/poets' stats or history.

I don't usually plan what I write, whether an article or a poem, but I'm much more at ease with spontaneity because, though more often than not, I get stuck while I sit in front of a blank monitor, or a page, I just begin a phrase or two, delete, then another turn of expression, delete again. That also means I hate research; no, I must admit I'm just plain lazy.

So I frequently write poetry. It comes from the vast library of the mind, the conscious or the sub-conscious. Education and life experiences always come in handy, of course. The acquired knowledge of figures of speech like similes and metaphors, litotes, and metonymy, etc. --- all are an advantage. (And by the way, knowledge of metaphors and similes will more than make up for actual images in your poems, at least, for the facilities of embedding or uploading images are, for now, not yet assimilated in full swing on Expertscolumn.

Okay, so much for that digression. Sorry. Let's get down to the real nitty gritty.

So it came as a pleasant surprise, then, after I had my breakfast, to see a poem I wrote last night 6th (Es)Sense garnering 437 page views alone in less than a single day (or an overall daily page views of 653 page views).  On seeing my traffic, I couldn't believe my eyes focusing on that one poem as against the other columns. "437, my foot!" I muttered to myself rubbing my eyes with the sandwich I held with my right hand!

I checked Google search and sure enough my poem "6th (Es)Sence" are right there at the top (No. 1). I know poems are not the most "juiciest" item that most people look for on the internet in contrast to timeless, or perhaps timely informative how-to articles. But you've got to hand it to my poem, such as it is, "top the charts" on google.:-)

Not that the hits had come as a fluke.

The secret lies in my new writing website Expertscolumn since I made the switch on May 8, though I had signed up earlier on February this year. And what's more surprising is that since I started (re)posting and wrote original content I already received my first 5 USD about 6 days ago via PayPal fairly quickly, in just a month or so.

By the same token, I'm proud to report that I have, at this juncture, gone past 9,000 hits (May 8 - June 28) and edging closer to my goal of my second 5 USD pay out hopefully in 10 days.

And I'm not making a sales pitch for Expertscolumn, mind you. I'm just telling you the plain truth.

Wikinut is a great platform from which to launch your on-line writing hobby or career what with its kind and supportive moderators like Mark Gordon Brown, Johnny Dod, Steve Kinsman and Peter B. Gibblet. The site, however, not only doesn't pay well but takes at least a year before you earn your revenue shares, if anything.

Triond? Though its pay out is regular, on the 10th of every month,  it will take several days before you earn  a cent for newly written-articles, for all I care. As far as I know, it's going spirally downwards, too, like Wikinut.

So there you have it. Expertscolumn is truly the best!   I hope it continues to blaze the trail without stopping and looking back.
