The World Tobacco Day is commemorated by the citizens of the world this Wednesday led bythe World Health Organization (WHO). It happens by pleading to billions of smokers to stop the habits. WHO asked the public to oppose and fight the tobacco industry attempts to subvert and ignore the law which provides protection to people against the dangers of smoking. Based on the WHO report, nearly six million people die every year because of cigarettes or tobacco. Sadly, around 600,000 are victims of second hand smoking.
There are a billion smokers in the world that 33 percent were located in the Western Pacific region. According to the Department of Health, the Philippines has 17.3 million smokers which keeps growing and growing every year. This includes some young call center agents who makes it a habit to smoke during their break time.
Smoking is one of the three biggest causes of threats to human health, such as cancer, heart disease, breathing problems. If this problem continues, billions of people will surely die.
