Work to Live, Don’t Live to Work

    Once we’ve all come to terms that the moment we’re born, we’re sworn into business and we are not free and maybe never have been in our lifetime, then we will comprehend the reality of it all. The United States especially is a Corporation, once you are assigned a Social Security number you are now property. We are all, from birth, branded as products of the government. Going as far back as the 50’s the husband would go to work for averages of 40 hours per week come home and spend time helping raise their families. The wife would stay home and raise the children and help around the house. These customs still are carried into today’s families but there are now adjustments that need to be made.

    Nowadays, it’s commonly a necessity for dual incomes to try and make ends meet. The wife is still expected to take care of the kids and keep up with the house along with keeping a full time job. I’m not talking about the pressure from the husband; these customs have been carried down from generations so the wife feels it is her obligation to do these things. The husband on the other hand, not only has to work for the rest of his life, he needs to step up his game and at times cover with house chores etc. and help with all the additional duties that come with raising a family. The problem is, with both parents engrossed on their jobs, the parents are more focusing on raising their income compared to raising their children.

    You got to work on average 8 hours in the day, most people after that are either on their phone, iPad, or on an actual computer checking their personal or employment emails. Face it; you are constantly feeding the ever relentless corporate machine. Your kids are away at school? I won’t even dwell on our school system that simply teaches our kids to be part of the workforce and not something bigger. We, as a society, are losing sight of one another as human beings. The more we become connected electronically, the more detached and isolated we become emotionally because we are losing the human elements of life. Look at Facebook for example, some of the same people that friend me on facebook would look me dead in the eye either at the gas station or grocery store and won’t even acknowledge me. But then I get a message on facebook saying, was that you at the store the other day?

    Corporations convert human value into faceless commodities in which we are bought and sold to improve the overall standing in the competitive marketplace. We are on the clock all the time. We are always in pursuit of happiness, but apparently it’s in all the wrong places. Instead of enjoying life raising our children and being grateful and proud of them when we see who they become as people, we are pursuing more money. It’s not the ever ending search for love or spiritual enlightenment, it’s for more money. This may help with the bills but you know what it also helps out with? Profound discontent, emotional isolation, higher divorce rates, loss of sleep, emotional and physical health problems and most of all, sacrificing watching our children grow up. Why is it that kids these days are so violent? They are being raised on television, video games, etc. and whatever they can’t pick up on television they witness from their parents enraged outburst against one another.

    The reality of the situation is this, money is made to pay. The love and the bond you develop with your children is eternal. The love you show your children, either it be directly with them or how you conduct yourself with your girlfriend, wife or with society in general will be carried on through their children and that is how it becomes eternal. Don’t be a commodity to the corporate swine, if they lose you, they will find another but if your children lose you, there is no other that can raise them the way you do.
