“Habits”, if good can help you do wonders in your life but if bad, they can ruin your life. Smoking is considered to be a bad habit. Why do people smoke? Well, if asked to a chain smoker, his/her reason would be that they smoke because smoking is an activity that derives pleasure, takes you away from your worries and transform you into an unrealistic world.
Agree to it or not, but all smokers know that smoking is not worth for his/her social, economical and personal life. Though we see warnings on each and every pack of cigarettes, we smoke. Every year nearly 5.4 million people die because of smoking related diseases. Smoking is not only the killing disease, but in general all tobacco related disease cause a high number of deaths today in the world. According to World Health Organization, smoking is considered to be more life threatening than other disease. •Social Reasons: We live in a society where people gauge us from our personality, habits and thoughts. Smokers are always considered to be out of place. We see in airplanes, malls, restaurants , offices and even on airports that smokers are considered second class citizens and non-smokers would like to be a little away from smokers. Why so? The reason being, smokers stink a lot. Smoker’s hair, skin, breathe, fingers, clothes and even the cubicles where they sit in their office, all stinks. The other reason is that people who are in close vicinity with smokers are considered passive smokers and are at more health dangers.
•Economical reasons: An individual starts smoking with a single cigarette but as and when the habit grows old, the number increases and at times they tend to smoke almost 20 cigarettes a day. The money incurred on growing the said habit is a huge amount which otherwise if you quit smoking could be invested to secure your future.
•Personal reasons: “Health”, the most alarming factor for smokers. Tobacco products like cigarette contain hundreds of cancer causing chemicals and artificial flavors. Smoking can even cause strokes and heart disease. Smoking also reduces your work potentials. On an average you waste around 2 hours daily if you smoke 10 times a day. Those hours could blossom your family life. You can’t get real taste of your food because your taste buds have been affected by smoking. Your friends – man/woman, though admires your personality would prefer to stay away from a smoker. You will be deprived of an intimate friend in your life. It can even affect your sex life and make you infertile.
So awaken yourself and do all good to quit smoking. That will actually make you look better as you would gain back around 15 years of your life.
