When you search for something, what does it show, what spirit does it manifest? Doesn’t it show a strong desire to find the thing for which the person is searching and that what he is searching for is worth some effort? The Bible uses the word seek when it comes to finding God, even though He is not far from each one of us. (Acts 17:22-32) Why do we have to seek or search for God?

God has given us so much: life, food and a myriad of other things. Would not an appreciative heart be moved to show recognition and love for the provider of all things? Would not that God deserve a response on our part for all that He has done and is doing?

Let’s take the example of food. While there is an abundant supply of food in the world, don’t we still need to make an effort to get it? Even the food that grows on a tree, with little being done on our part, we still have to go and get it from the tree.

God expects effort, work, desire. So we have to make an effort if we want to get to know Him.

So in Psalms 145:18 we are encouraged to call on Him which would be through prayer. In Acts 17:26 we are encouraged to seek for God. In James 4:8 we are commanded to draw close to Him. In all three Scriptures we are asked to do something, to do something that would show what in is in our hearts, what kind of parsons we are.

Yes, God expects us to take the initiative and that is because He has already done his part. Now He expects us to do ours.

Can you now see why we need to search for God? If we call, seek and search, than surely we will enjoy a blessed relationship with the Almighty God, Jehovah.

In early civilizations, there was always a leader who asserted himself and members of the tribe followed. Hero worship is among the archetypes embedded in our genetic make up and dependence on that heroic figure--name it, man, woman, phenomenon of nature, God--has always been ingrained in us.

Yes, we make gods but is there a God that made us? All I can say is that I have looked for him and have found him. I cannot deny what I have found. I can only speak for myself and allow for everyone to relate their own findings. I wish everyone happiness and peace!

It's built into us to appreciate nature and to seek for God. I wonder why animals do not have this instinct. Perhaps they know God better than us.

Actually animals have no concept of God at all. We are much different. We have been given a lot more than animals as far as thinking ability and conscience. We have a lot more responsibility and accountability. May we think carefully and act accordingly!

It seems to be hardwired into our instincts as humans to seek some higher power. It's curious why this should have evolved and what benefit it gives.

If we evolved, why is God a concern to so many? Why would we think about God? Why would we develop so many religions which are ways of searching for God or worshiping God? Why would evolution give us a concept of God? If we evolved, God should not be in the picture at all! Obviously we didn't!
