Einstein was well aware that the philosophy behind the working of nuclear reactions is defective, though not wrong. Therefore, the great genius of all time had no choice but to take refuge in the advent of a new vision of space after challenging Bohr.

What is the defect of mass-energy equivalence? It works well. Hundreds of times it was proved through human wisdom and folly that mass could be converted into energy as in nuclear reactors, Japanese cities, Chernobyl etc. Then why should one suspect it?
The answer is simple. The super famous equation, E = mc2 does not declare why a particular amount of energy is remaining in the form of mass. That is, why particles should remain with material properties without being disintegrated into energy? In other words, how the energy becomes mass? It was due to this great defect that ‘cause of gravitation’ remained elusive in spite of the great achievements of special relativity. So, he had to come up with general relativity. Still, the cause of gravitation eluded. To solve the problem of mass, Higgs boson was postulated. The world was crazy on it, thinking that it can answer everything. But, the boson also cannot touch gravitation. Why? It is because gravitation is the property of space, not that of matter and energy. As Einstein unified mass and energy, someone should incorporate space also. To do that, one must first realize what space is. How can one do it? There is no simple method. Even Michelson-Morley experiment failed to prove or disprove the existence of space as an entity. Carl Sagan and Hawking failed. Then, how?
Ancient Indian ascetics during the period of The Upanishads had discovered a good method. They had no particle accelerator costing billions; they had no sophisticated sensors and super computers. It was by looking into themselves, engaging their sense organs in a detached way in the daily affairs. That is a good method to realize space. But, a modern seeker should be well versed in science. Or else, he/she would not be able to comprehend what space is in mathematical equations. Philosophical explanations are already there. What requires is its explanation in mathematical and scientific terms, not by prose and poems as the great ascetics had done.
Even the equation behind the nuclear reactions also may undergo slight correction as the new space concept emerges. That is why Mr. Carl Sagan predicted, ‘discovery of space will be one of the greatest discoveries of all time.’
Observation should learn from reason. Science is yet to begin. But, charlatans boast everything has been discovered!
