Malaysia Governemt claim that Tor-Tor dance and Paluan Gondang Sambilan
Oh My God..It happen again..The neighbour country claim indonesian heritages as their heritages..After Batik 1 or 2 years ago, Angklung, Reog Ponorogo, the traditional song from Ambon Rasa Sayange, Pendet dance from Bali and now Tor Tor dance from North Sumatera (mandailing and batak) case..
What is the reason of Malaysia government? Only Malaysian government know exaclty their reason..It happen again and again and sometimes make indonesian public are angry with Malaysia...
Indonesian public are angry of course when this case become hotter and hotter..Indonesian public still remember how Malaysia is easily saying that Pendet case is part of their tourism aspect in Discovery channel..
Indonesian academy, Hikmahanto Juwana said that Malaysia Government make mistake when make Tor-Tor dance and Paluan Godang Sambilang are registered as their heritage is their biggest mistake...
Malaysian governemtn(said Hikmahanto Juwana) said that Malaysian Government did not respect sensitive aspect of indonesian people..
The rumour said that it is suggestion from Mandailing community in Malaysian...But as Hikmahanto, it is wrong when Malaysia claim that Tor-Tor and Paluang Godang Sambilan as Malaysian heritage...
It is different like Barongsai and any chinnese culture when it is played in Indonesia..Chinnese comunity in Indonesia always plays Barongsai and any chinnese culture but Indonesian government never claim that Barongsai come from indonesian culture..
Well, I think it can increase tendency of indonesian-malaysian conflict if Malaysian Government did not make clearly clarification like that..We are neighbourhood, but it doesn`t mean that you can hurt your neighbour like that...Malaysian government must realize that Indonesia can be a good neighbourhood for them if Malaysia treat Indonesia well, but Indonesia maybe be a worse neighbourhood if Malaysia always claim any indonesian culture and heritage as Malaysian heritage..

Comments
if you remember the issue about Pendet --- the malaysian government did not claim it to be malaysia's but the discovery channel producers were the ones who made the mistake. they later made the correction on the video clip, clarified and apologized. At the same time, the Malaysian government explained that Malaysia never made that claim.
as for rasa sayang, batik and so on... that cannot be helped because a majortiy of the malay population in malaysia are from Indonesia. batik has been an industry for a long time since the first malay settlers from indonesia came. rasa sayang, also because the malays from indonesia brought it with them
malaysia never claimed that batik, rasa sayang originated from malaysia.. but they are part of our heritage because they belong to the people of malaysia.
malaysia and indonesia share the same heritage -- we speak the same language, eat the same food. just like satay. it is malaysian. but we know it was brought into malaysia by the first javanese settler.
as for tor-tor -- there are mandaling people in malaysia who brought with them the mandaling culture.
it is acknowledged that it did not original di bumi malaysia. but the fact it is being practised by the mandaling community.
we cannot deny that these cultural elements are part of the huge malay population in malaysia.
indonesis should be proud that their heritage can also be found in malaysia.
i myself have roots in Indonesia. my father is Javanese from Banyu Mas and my mother is a Mendaling (Lubis).
I am proud of my heritage.
