Would You Hide Your Child's Gender?

I’m not talking about not wanting to know the sex of your baby at the 20 week scan and wanting to keep it as a surprise until the birth. No its more complicated than that, one woman choose not to tell people the sex of her child even though HE is now 5 years old.

Beck Laxton is shunned my other parents because she refuses to tell them that her child is a boy. She makes sure she dresses him in uni sex clothes, insists he plays with both girls and boys toys and is careful never to refer to his gender.

Beck’s argument for doing what she does is so that her child will develop a real personality and will not be tied down with gender stereotypes. Saying she does not want her son being put into a category by society.

I do not agree with what beck is doing, she is being far too extreme. She may think she is protecting him by keeping his gender a secret but it will only cause him damage in the long run.

Children should be free to express themselves in a way that makes them feel comfortable, its how they learn and develop. This mother really needs to think about what she is doing to her child before its too late.
