With the on going London 2012 Olympics and the excitement it brings, less attention has been focused on the English Premier League (EPL) which starts barely two weeks from now. However, clubs have already started with their various preparations before the kick off. Barely a month after the European championships ended Players have joined their various clubs for preparation ahead of a very hectic season.

Clubs have organized tours around the world, playing friendly games with other teams to ensure that the players are ready for next season. With the transfer market opened until the 31st of August, 2012, most clubs are trying to boost their squads by buying new players who can assist them to achieve their targets for next season and also moving out players who may not be part of their plans. Some players are also taking advantage of the transfer market to move to clubs were they feel their ambitions can be achieved.

Of course each club has its own ambitions for the coming season likewise do the various fans of each club do, some clubs are looking forward to retaining the title, others to challenge the champions for the title, some for a champion’s league spot, others for Europa league spot and finally some want to avoid relegation. With twenty different teams in the league only means twenty different ambitions, with each team fighting to ensure that it meets it goals for the season would only make the excitement intense.

The only team that would be looking forward to retain the Premier league title would be the current champions Manchester City who beat their city rivals Manchester united on goal difference to win the league title last season. The champions Manchester City have so far not being active in the transfer market perhaps they don’t have to make any changes to their current team, as the saying goes; you don’t need to change a winning team. However they have so far been linked to some players, including the Arsenal talisman Robin Van Persie, who is the current league top scorer with 30 league goals. However, they are not the only club linked with this player, their rivals Manchester united have been said to have had bid for the player rejected and juventus are also said to be preparing a bid for the Arsenal talisman.

Perhaps the Champions Manchester City would want to boost their squad to ensure they perform well or even win the champions league as well as other domestic titles such as the FA Cup and the Carling Cup. Of course they would be playing in the community shield cup against Chelsea barely a week from now.
I would be writing in my next article about clubs such as Manchester united, Arsenal FC, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspurs, Liverpool and other premier league clubs and ambitions or goals for next season.
