The Voice Season Two began it's blind auditions today. For those unfamiliar with the show, it is a singing competition where four judges have to build four teams of 12 singers to compete in a battle royal audition, but the judges are not allowed to see the singer till they make the decision to add that singer to the team. In cases where more than one judge decided to take the singer, the singer than gets to decide which judge they will join with. The four judges who will also be mentoring the singers in their groups are none other than super star singers Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Blake Shelton, with judges this talented you know the singers are some of the best the country has to offer. Unlike other singing competitions like American Idol, and The X Factor The Voice does not invite bad singers to sing in front of the judges. Every singer who is invited to the blind auditions are hand selected for their abilities before coming to perform. This unique format gives much credibility to the show when it comes to finding real talent. The Voices Season two promises to be even better than last season.
The show kicked off with some really memorable auditions. First up to bat was country singer Raelynn, who just so happened to turn all four judges around with her rendition of "Hell On Heels" a song made famous by judge Blake Shelton's wife Miranda Lambert. When Blake mentioned that his wife would have loved to hear Raelynn sing, she then mentioned how much she idolized Miranda Lambert. It was no surprise Raelynn decided to join Blake's team, becoming his first and only team member for this round.
The next contestant up was single father Jesse Campbell. Jesse's dream is to make a career out of his singing so he can make a better life for him and his daughter. Jesse turned out to have the skills to pay the bills as he almost instantly had all four judges turn their chairs. Faced with the hard decision to choose between four judges,, he eventually decided to go with Christina Aguilera who promised to fight hard to help him win.
Things started to get ugly among the judges when the next audition, Juliett Simms took the stage. A female rock singer, Juliett instantly grabbed the attention of Adam Levine and Cee Lo. Eventually Christina Aguilera decided to toss her hat into the ring giving Juliet the option among three judges. Christina seemed anxious to get Juliett as she kept interrupting Adam from giving his sales pitch. Adam and Christina were going tit for tat with poor Cee Lo in among, but Cee Lo proved to have the best sales pitch as he won over Juliet becoming his first team member of the day. He also eluded to some sexual tension among Adam and Christina, which to be honest if you've seen Season one of the Voice seems so obvious. I hope one day Adam and Christina will be able to profess their unending love for each other.
Another big voice was up next as opera singer Chris Mann. Chris had a touching story about his mother being diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. He wanted to do his mom proud for his audition on The Voice. The judges were slow to turn, because of Chris' opera style voice, but he did manage to get Cee Lo and Christina to turn their chairs. Chris felt Christina would be the better mentor so Christina would now have two strong singers on her team.
The last audition of the day was also Adam Levine's last chance to get someone on his team before the next round of auditions, but the odds seemed against him as the next audition was Tony Luka who just so happened to also be a former member of the Mickey Mouse Club when Christina Aguilera was on the show. Tony was able to grab the attention of all four judges, and when it came time for Christina to give her thoughts on his performance it was clear as day she did not remember her former Mouseketeer pal. Tony made no mention of the fact and opted to go with Adam who was practically begging to have Tony on his team. After Tony walked off the stage he saluted Christina which seemed to jog her memory. She snuck off the set to go backstage to meet him. They rehashed some old memories, and it made Tony's day and that was the conclusion of day one of The Voice.
Tomorrow will be the next round of blind auditions, and the competition keeps getting better and better. The judges will be performing a medley of Price songs which are sure to be very entertaining. Stay tuned for the next round of The Voice.
