Notebook computers or Laptop computers were the only portable forms of computers sometime before. But the main problem with them was their weight. Carrying around something that weighs more than 3 kilo grams is not very comfortable. When Tablet PCs were introduced they proved to be far ahead in terms of portability because of their negligible weight. The popularity of tablets was amazing. They began to eat into the market share of Notebooks.
It is true that the Tablet can’t be an equal to the Notebook. But they can do many things a Notebook is meant for. So, many of us began to think that it was better to carry around a Tablet rather than the bulky Notebook. The result? An increase in the sales volume of the Tablet and a corresponding decrease in the case of the Notebook.
The manufacturers of Notebook PCs have then introduced the Ultrabook, to vie with the Tablet. Ultrabooks are slimmed down Notebooks with a great reduction in weight, making them ultra portable. Of course they have made some sacrifices in the process of trimming down.
Ultrabooks are provided with low voltage intel processors having integrated graphics, storage through solid state devices (SSDs). They have lesser number of ports than a Notebook. Leaders among this category are described here.
