The Two Romneys, George and Mitt

Mitt Romney certainly didn’t turn out to be the man his father was. George built up the American economy by producing cars Americans wanted to buy. He kept millions of jobs in the country. Mitt produced nothing. He bankrupted companies and send millions of jobs out of the country. If Mitt gains the presidency he will cut out the healthcare bill President Obama put into place and cut taxes even more for the rich.

There is a huge difference in Mitt Romney and his father, George Romney. George was very open about how he earned his fortune. He ran an automobile company and while America was still besotted with big gas guzzlers, he shifted his focus to small compacts and had them available when America was ready, saving millions of American jobs. George Romney paid taxes to the tune of 36% of his income, according to CNN news. He released 12 years of tax returns and wasn’t shy about releasing any financial information that was requested. Evidently Mitt wasn’t paying attention to the lessons his father tried to teach him.

Mitt Romney has a different prospective than his father. He didn’t get rich by providing and protecting American jobs, instead he drove companies into bankruptcy and sent American jobs overseas. Mitt keeps his finances secret. He would only release one year’s tax return. With his billions of dollars, his taxes that year were lower than a secretary who works in his office. Mitt is the only candidate who has ever run for the presidency, according to CNN News, who has tens of millions invested in the Cayman Islands which is known as a tax haven. He also has a Swiss bank account.

IRAs were set up as a tax advantage for middle class Americans to save a portion of income for retirement with a savings limit of a few thousand dollars per year, so how is it that Mitt has an IRA account worth between $20 million and $101 million?(CNN News) I can’t explain it. Is there anyone who can? Selling out companies, sending jobs overseas, putting Americans out of work, and stashing huge amounts of money overseas in tax havens isn’t something to be proud of. It’s understandable that Mitt wants to keep it secret.

How many votes would he get if the real story got out? If in some cockeyed way Mitt should be elected president, he plans to stop the health care bill cold, and cut taxes even lower for the rich. Mitt doesn’t dare level with the voters. His best chance at the presidency is keeping secrets. Would any citizen in their right mind vote for such a man other than the rich who want to be richer? That’s why everyone should know exactly what sort of man Mitt Romney is. Think about who would benefit if he becomes president, certainly not the working middle class, who need health care and jobs to feed and care for families.

And there you have the differences in the father and son. The apple, in this case, fell far from the tree.
