At one time, fame is something that took years to obtain. You had to have the right connections, the right skills, pick the right opportunities, and obviously be patient enough to succeed more often to not. However, in the day and the age of the Internet and social media, it is much easier to obtain. There are many people who have become Internet famous that would have likely have just languished into nothingness, another face in the crowd.

Internet fame can just be nearly as fickle as real fame. You put together a series of videos on YouTube. Showing some talent that you might have or perhaps making an utter fool of yourself. Regardless you can get some attention if you promote yourself right. If you have a little spare cash to invest and time everything write, within a few months, you can become someone who is known all over the Internet. Might not be loved but you will in fact be known.

Of course, Internet fame seldom does turn into real life fame. Obviously unless under some extreme circumstances, your face will not be plastered all over the celebrity gossip programs. Then again, many would see this to actually be a benefit to fame on the Internet as opposed to traditional fame. Not having your every move watched and analyzed.

You can have the benefits of being known without all of the baggage. At least for the moment. As the Internet grows to be the driving source of media, one must wonder if that will be something that will change before too long.

Also much like those real life celebrities, someone who seeks fame and the fortune on the Internet might hit a frustrating wall. For every Internet celebrity, there are countless others that have fallen on their face. Not to mention you have to deal with an extremely demanding and fickle fanbase. Only the hardest of the hard line fans will seek out people in such a way and follow their work. Whether it be through videos, social media, or even online writing or art, it is a hard slog.

Being Internet famous does have its rewards and it is much easier fame to obtain, but there are challenges. The people who you know that are Internet celebrities did not become such overnight. Although they did become such quicker than their more traditional counterparts, there was hard work ot be had.
