Toy Salesman From California Joins Bin Laden As One of The Most Wanted Men On The FBI List

His name is Jason Derek Brown and was born in California in 1969.
As an innocent child, Brown attended the Laguna Beach High School. Later in his life, he was a missionary for Latter Day Saints and proselytized in France between 1988 and 1990. One cannot help but wonder what went wrong in this young man’s life to make him be on the top ten fugitives on the FBI’s most wanted list.
Anyway Brown ventured into entrepreneurship and owned two businesses which had their headquarters based in Salt Lake City in Utah. Derek Brown operated these businesses from his home. Brown is said to have lived a seriously luxurious lifestyle which began to affect his business. He was spending way more than he was earning from his businesses and this turned both businesses bankrupt.

As his business crumbled, Brown turned to crime, for he needed something to fuel his extravagant lifestyle. Crime seemed the only solution for the missionary.
On November 29, 2004, Brown could not control the need for money within him that he allegedly attacked a security guard who was carrying money belonging to the AMC Ahwatukee 24 movie theater in Phoenix Arizona. According to reports, Brown was alleged to have put on a hood to disguise himself before ambushing the security guard.
He is then said to have shot the security guard execution-style. Police said that five bullets from Brown’s gun struck the security guard in the head and he died instantly at the scene. A hooded Brown then allegedly made for the security man’s sack containing the money – $56,000 in cash and fled away with a bicycle.
But it did not take long for investigators to name Brown as the prime suspect of the robbery and murder.

An arrest warrant was subsequently issued out for the arrest of Jason Derek Brown.
Brown did not wait for the warrant, he instantly fled from Arizona to Henderson located in Nevada. According to investigators, the fugitive Brown then proceeded to Orange County in California where he stayed with his relatives until December of 2004 when FBI agents got clue that he was hiding in Orange County. They rushed there but missed him narrowly.
Brown has since then eluded the authorities.
On December 8, 2007 he was finally placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list with a reward of $100,000 on his head.
This is the same list that the deceased al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was placed before he was killed by U.S Special Forces in Pakistan.
