Summary:

India is a developing country. It has total 563 recognized universities for higher studies by UGC including 43 Central, 285 State, 129 Deemed and 106 Private in the country. Tamil Nadu is leading state followed by U.P., Rajasthan, A.P. and Maharashtra. Good educational infrastructure is developed in the country but it still need to be more development in this regard.

• Uttar Pradesh has total 53 universities including 4 Central, 23 State, 10 Deemed and 16 Private in the state.

• Rajasthan has total 47 universities including 1 Central, 14 State, 8 Deemed and 24 Private in the state.

• Andhra Pradesh has total 42 universities including 3 Central, 32 State and 7 Deemed in the state.

• Maharashtra has total 41 universities including 1 Central, 19 State and 21 Deemed in the state.

• Karnataka has total 40 universities including 1 Central, 22 State, 15 Deemed and 2 Private in the state.

• Gujarat has total 30 universities including 1 Central, 18 State, 2 Deemed and 9 Private in the state.
• Madhya Pradesh has total 26 universities including 2 Central, 15 State, 3 Deemed and 6 Private in the state.

• West Bengal has total 22 universities including 1 Central, 20 State and 1 Deemed in the state.

• Delhi has total 22 universities including 6 Central, 5 State and 11 Deemed in the state.

• Haryana has total 21 universities including 1 Central, 10 State, 5 Deemed and 5 Private in the state.

• Bihar has total 17 universities including 1 Central, 14 State and 2 Deemed in the state.

• Himachal Pradesh has total 17 universities including 1 Central, 4 State and 12 Private in the state.

• Uttarakhand has total 17 universities including 1 Central, 6 State, 4 Deemed and 6 Private in the state.

• Orissa has total 16 universities including 1 Central, 12 State, 2 Deemed and 1 Private in the state.
