After TNA Final Resolution 2012 this past Sunday, TNA Impact Wrestling for January 12th 2012 returns in grand style, with Bobby Roode taking on Jeff Hardy for the TNA Championship and Kurt Angle squares off against James Storm in a number one contenders match. Let’s get this review starting and recap all of the highlights of TNA Impact Wrestling 1/12/12.

TNA Impact Wrestling 1/12/12

Recap of the disqualification at TNA Genesis 2012 between Bobby Roode and Jeff Hardy.

Bobby Roode talks about his victory. Here comes Sting is out to make Bobby Roode taking on Jeff Hardy for the TNA Championship. Sure why not. If TNA wants to get their buyrates into negative numbers somehow(don’t know if it is possible, but damned if TNA is not trying), but it’s not my money. So we have Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Roode tonight for the TNA Championship.

TNA Tag Team Champions Matt Morgan and Crimson defeated Robbie T and Robbie E

Well this was quite the match. Morgan and Crimson continue their tedious reign as tag team champions, with a huge double choke slam brings them down.

Samoa Joe and Magnus pop up to say hi and beat up Crimson and Matt Morgan. So this feud must in fact continue.

Eric Bischoff is out to talk. He talks about things that happened fifteen years ago. Here comes Garrett Bischoff, to talk about how he is going to stick around, despite his dad’s best efforts. And he has a trainer. Yeah, it’s so obvious who the trainer is. His name rhymes with Bulk Bogan.

The love affair of ODB and Eric Young is highlighted. I’ve seen more desirable pairings in fan fiction.

ODB defeated Winter

Hey look, Winter and Angelina Love are still around. This match was not too bad, but we had to get interjected by Eric Young, and airplane spin dizzies Angelina Love. Then ODB takes down Winter with a TKO for the pin.

AJ Styles wants answers. Christopher Daniels comes out, saying Kazarian has carried AJ Styles for too long. Daniels and Styles go at it, but Kazarian is out. The plot has thickened.

Bully Ray was on Twitter. TWITTER! He trended on Twitter. The sad thing is that I can’t tell if they’re making fun of WWE or shamelessly copying WWE. Then again, TNA did the Twitter thing longer before WWE, but yeah. Bobby Roode rightfully said that it’s not about Twitter. That’s for sure.

James Storm is out. He wants a piece of Kurt Angle. Out comes Kurt Angle to have some words with Storm, saying that he beat him this Sunday, and thus he wants no return match. Sting does make a return match, for the number one contendership, and also he says that if Bobby Roode intentionally gets himself disqualified, he loses the title. Remember this one. So there you go.

James Storm defeated Kurt Angle with the Last Call

The match was a pretty good return match, not the best, but these two work together rather well to say the very least. Kurt Angle tries to win with his own Version of the Last Call but James Storm shows him how it’s done for the pin.

Jeff Hardy is ready to go for tonight.

Brooke Tessmacher and Hooters, vote for her for something or other or support her or whatever.

Sting makes Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James in a Steel Cage Match for next week. I thought it was supposed to be for this week, but then again, TNA tend to really have some screwiness with the television tapings even if the best of times.

Jeff Hardy defeated TNA Champion Bobby Roode via disqualification

A pretty good match actually…up until the finish. Then again, what did you expect? Remember, Bobby Roode loses the title if he intentionally gets himself disqualified. Swanton Bomb and Jeff Hardy looks about ready to win the title but Bully Ray interferes, taking out the referee for the disqualification. The match is over and Jeff Hardy’s music plays but is he the champion? Those who read the spoilers will obviously know. For the rest of you, tune in next week.

Why You Should Watch TNA Impact Wrestling 1/12/12

I did enjoy the last two matches. TNA is giving me that late era WCW vibe(I’m talking late 2000-early 2001, after Russo left but before it went out of business), where the shows are mostly solid, but you can tell a lot of the damage has been done and it’s just a matter of time where something is going to break. Which is far better than the 1999-2000 WCW level TNA that we have got for years.
