Here are a few tips to help you find a fulfilling career.

When you were young, you probably work for money. Ten years later, you may find that working for self-fulfillment is more satisfying than working for money.

What is it you want in life now? It is time to reassess your goal and priority in life.

2.   Define your career goals.

Some people have very clearly defined career goals. They want to keep going up the corporate ladder until they reach the top.

Many people find it meaningless to stay in the rat race. They have different career goals in life.

If you find that you are going nowhere with your career, you need to define your career goals.

You are far from your career goals, especially when you are contemplating a career change. You need to find out how to achieve your goals.

You may need to network with more people from the new sector. You may need to upgrade your soft skills and hard skills.

You have to set the development plan and the time frame for achieving your career goals.

If you are working in a big company, you can inform the management of your interest in a career change. It is possible to request a transfer to marketing department from the production department.

It is easier to switch career within the same organization.

5.  Take initiative

Most people learn when they take charge of a project. While you may think that a project goes wrong is a career suicide, that is not true.

A career suicide happens when all your arrogance and bad traits surface when you lead a team. The worst is to have a mutiny from your team members.

This shows you lack the leadership skill. If you recognize your weakness, and agree to go for leadership training, your career is still salvageable.

6.  Enhance your skill

You can enhance your skills, and contribute articles to magazines specializing in your profession.

You will gain expert status when a few of your articles are published.

7.   Obtain professional qualification

If you aim for senior management positions, having a MBA is an asset.

You cannot rely on your experience as the Chief Engineer to survive in senior management team.

The senior management team pays attention to macro economics factors.
