The next skill that must be learned in running is the basics in starting and sprinting. Getting on to a good start is a skill that needs practice. For beginners, crouch start is the best position to learn. There are three basic crouch starts, the short, middle, and elongated/mass start. For the purpose of learning the basics in starting, a half-crouch is the best. The starting positions for a half-crouch are.
1.Spread your arms at the side and get ready to swing.
2.Feel apart and ready your body to drive forward.
3.Bend your hips and knees.
4.Look five meters ahead and focus on the signal "GO".
Starting in sprinting or running must be practiced to avoid committing mistakes during a competition or athletic meet. Continuous practice and correct mechanics help the learner to learn the basics.
Team relay is the effective cooperative activity and competitive relay in track events. It is most awaited event in the competition as it helps the player to work with others, and strive to improve performance. Running alone can be a starter for a beginner to improve his stamina and endurance but the most important part of any track and field skills lies on the guidance and practice of coaches to develop the correct skills in team running. Team relay involves baton passing. It is the important skill to learn in relay as it determines how the team runs in synchronized manner. Baton passing and receiving is very important because any mistake committed during the pass or receive might cause slow in time or disqualification in the competition.
Although it was discussed in the first part of this article that there are four kinds of jumping, the discussion will primarily focus on the three types of jumping, which are the long jump, high jump, and triple jump. In long jump, the basics are as follows.
1.Run fast and jump for lift, reach for a long landing.
2.Arms, hips and hips should all help in the lift; feet should be forward on landing.
3.Take-off should be with toe as close to the take-off line as possible.
4.Landing should be forward, not falling or stepping backward.
5.Practice the hints one at a time to master the skill in long jumping.
In high jump, the learner is encouraged to experiment with and take note of the different methods (scissors style, hoping and twisting, and rolling and turning). Let's focus on the most popular which is the scissors style.
1.Take-off foot should be in the opposite side. For example, take-off will begin on the right of the bar.
2.Swing arms and legs in the run style.
3.Bouncy running, swinging and lifting each leg, swinging arms and vertical jumping.
In triple jump, the tips are as follows.
1.Practice hopping, stepping and jumping in athletics.
2.Leap as far as you can from one foot to the other foot.
3.Start with both feet together, hop on one foot, then step to the other and finally jump on two feet.
For the purpose of learning the basic skills in throwing, I will primarily focus on the basic and fundamentals of throwing. Discuss throw is considered the easiest in throwing. A compact disc made up of steel and wood will be thrown in the air in a circular throwing area. Disc must travel in a designated area to complete the throw. Javelin throw is where a javelin (which is a long stick made of a special type of aluminum steel) is thrown like a spear. And lastly, in shot-put, solid steel with adjustable weight is thrown.
