In this economic age where times are tough, the value of a good dollar is something that is now more important than ever before. The problem is that there are several factors that are taking away our good dollars. No matter how well many people budget, they do find themselves a bit behind for the month. Many factors exist that punch a sizeable hole right in our monthly budgets. Today I discuss five things that will cause your budget to fly right out of the window.
Five Budget Destroying Items
Obviously there will be many things that we need to spend money. And with everything going up but the wages of the average worker, that can be rather tough. Here are five things that will tack on the extra dollars and just undermine any budget that you might make.
Leaving Lights On When You Are Not In a Room
Your parents did tell you to turn the light off when you were young most likely. I think that you may be beginning to understand why. Leaving a light on for an extended period of time racks up the electricity bill and in a lesser budget note, it also causes you to have the need to purchase light bulbs a bit more often. So if you are leaving a room, do remember to turn off the light if there is no one else in the room. Don’t however turn the light off when other people are in the room because that’s obnoxious.
Leaving the Water Run When Brushing Teeth.
Obviously brushing our teeth will be a rather important ritual for many of us. But also it is important to remember to only turn on the water when necessary. When running the bathroom facet for even a minute, it can waste approximately two to three gallons of water. That might not seem like much at first, but if you do that three times a day and thirty days out of the month…well that can add up. And for more than a minute. So get your toothbrush situated and turn off the water. When you want to rinse your toothbrush, you can turn the water back on.
Not Sticking to a Rigid Grocery List
Making lists can help us from making extra purchases. If we have clear proof of what we need, than it is a lot harder to have our minds tricking into getting something that we only just merely want. Many people sadly still go to the store without a grocery list without a list and grocery stores know this, so they put the most attractive and often times very pricey items right directly in plain sight. So making a grocery list will make you stick to a budget.
Making Unnecessary Trips in the Car
Cars are perhaps one of the most useful and also in another way, one of the most useless inventions ever made. You would have to be living underneath a rock to not notice the rising price of gasoline. Limiting your trips where you get into the car to what is only necessary is essential for a more profitable life.
The Compulsive Need to Buy Cutting Edge Electronics
We are drawn in by what is popular in general as people. There is really no denying it. However, just because it is the newest, does not mean the best. Plus if we have a slightly older version that is still in working condition and really isn’t going to make that much of a different, then why make the best money. Get the most mileage you can out of your electronics and then when it dies behind repair (or when the cost for any repairs outweigh the costs of buying a new model), then it is time to purchase.
Creating a workable budget is something that is really not going to be easy, but with a little work and a little common sense, it can be done.
