Most people have heard of the disturbing and disgusting case that happened in Miami, Florida. If you have not heard, 31 year old Rudy Eugene attacked homeless wanderer Ronald Poppo on May 26. After jumping him and throwing him a few feet away from the Miami Herald building, he spent around 18 minutes eating his face off on the spot. By the time police had finally responded, Eugene had consumed 80% of Poppo's face. The officer ordered Eugene to back away, which he ignored and continued eating. In the end, the officer shot Eugene four times. After this incident, many people on the Internet began to cry zombie attack.
Pictures and video of the incident are available all over the web, as security cameras at the Miami Herald building captured the whole long, grueling incident. Then, a rumor began that Mr. Eugene, the so-called "zombie" had a virus known as LQP-79 Virus, which according to the article that published it, "destroys internal organs" and "makes the body crave human flesh." Now, there are hundreds of thousands of people who are demanding that the government fund a program to find a vaccine for this incredibly specific and quite unbelievable virus.
People, if you believe this, you are so gullible. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE LQP-79 VIRUS!
I mean I have accepted the fact that anything is possible, but really? Someone decided it would be funny to make gullible people panic by creating a fake cannibal virus? The first clue to everybody that this virus is not real is the fact that the virus' origin is a mock article called The Cannibal from Miami has been confirmed as a host of LQP-79, a deadly virus."
This is a mock article! It is an article that pokes fun at real events that may be gruesome and disturbing to some. And where is the CDC (Center for Disease Control), who is supposed to warn us of these impending threats? Obviously, if they are not making a ruckus about it, there is no deadly virus. The CDC can continue with their disturbing "quit smoking" ads without worrying about something else.
Honestly, there is no such thing as the LQP-79 Virus. The Miami cannibal, Rudy Eugene, was just really high on bath salts, a group of many drugs that are easy to find and have the same effects on users as cocaine, ecstasy, and other methamphetamines. That is the culprit. Mr. Poppo did survive the incident and is currently in critical condition. This situation just shows how gullible that society can be and how people will believe anything they read, even if what they read, means nothing at all.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever actually done any of these drugs you mention?! Because I have, and I know many people who have, and never has anyone eaten anyone! I'm not saying this specific virus is true, but something is going on and I'm sure the CDC knows exactly what it is. Perhaps the question is not does LQP-79 exist but is there something, other than drugs, that could be causing people to go insane?!

Listen Turk, My comment's are not bashing on you, they are to inform the public so kindly allow this to be put on the site as everything I am about to type is 100% factually based, and is my collection of all the information I have collected since the miami incident, that and I have no problem rewriting this again and again till you do so, not trying to troll, not trying to scare anyone, I just want to hear people's opinions on my theory. The Miami incident wasn't caused by bath-salt's nor any drug, besides pot, they were all ruled out any idea's of what did cause this? My theory is the Synthia virus that can infect any cell, has a computer generated DNA, so conventional means of identifying it are useless, and is programmed, from it's DNA, to resist all antibiotics, it is self replicating, and self-mutating, and it's only food source is carbon-based substance's, AKA any living being. What if the rashes is it's way of infecting and trying to figure out the human cell, the body can't fight it for it enters your cells to hide from the immune system, if it infects the brain cells, it is highly possible it could control the person, as it is synthetic, and is classified as the building block of life, meaning if it kills you it may very well be able to bring you back, and the kicker is they released it back in 08 to combat the BP oil spill in the Atlantic ocean, then in 2009 this mysterious rash appears on people in schools? coincidence? I think not, Children and the Seniors will be most vulnerable to it, so it makes sense that the schools would develop it first. You can research it yourselves, but everything I just said is true and fact, so no need to, but you are free to do so, this is my theory what's yours?
i dont care if im anonymous or not ..... i havent seen anyone admit to doing any bath salts..... so what u dont care if ppl do drugs but those ppl who are telling u they have done it are telling u what they know....i have done a few myself and have NEVER and i mean NEVER wanted to eat someones face nor any other part of their body... yes this so called virus may just be something created by someone for all those ppl looking for reasons and may not be real...but then again u cant know for sure urself!! and what about this "virus" in Europe they had been showing on the news causing the same reaction of this man in FL....what is that not real either...why is it any time something happens its gotta be blamed on drugs....i respect what u said and i agree it might not be a real virus but plz stop putting the blame on drugs cause its not the cause of this horrible incident!!!

Hi Turk. Just about the second point, I think generalizing is too risky if you don´t want to be mistaken: I believe each drug has to be studied particularly before stating it is stupid doing it, don´t you?

This is part of an article I was reading when researching bath salts. This is for the people who doubt that a man of Rudy Eugene's mental state (he has threatened to kill his mother, and allegedly beat his girlfriend) could possibly do what he did.

This virus isn't real, I think anyone with any common sense would recognize that the article was just a mock. However, there are a few viruses out there that already exist that can create living people to have zombie like symptoms. One is a bacteria that can infect rats and take over its brain to make it go to cats to get eaten by them, and then it breeds on the cats intestines. This virus is in a major population of humans as well, all it would need to do is evolve and it could do the same thing. A rage virus, like mad cow or rabies, those two are plausibile, and even a scientist at the university of Miami said that all it would take is two viruses like influenza and rabies to combine together and it could easily attack us, but the chances that they would combine aren't likely because its difficult. Then there's a virus going around in Uganda that has infected kids and it basically causes the loss to go mad, they can't find a cure for it yet. The guy below my is right. Everyone needs to STFU with claims that the attack was brought on because he was high on drugs. No official toxology has been released, so until you can show me physical proof that Rudy Eugene had drugs in his system during the time of the attack then you need to STFU.
The thing I don't get is them saying it's bath salts. And a lot of people keep saying that the bath salts that this man used before he ate the other guy is a lot like LSD, Meth, and Cocaine. A lot of people take those type of drugs so why wouldn't they try to eat people too? I do not agree with the bath salt theory. But I also do not agree with the "zombie" theory. It is strange what is happening. But there have been other cases in the past of cannibalism. The world is full of freaks. Not to mention the guys were homeless, he was probably just hungry and decided, "Hey I'm going to eat your face cause it looks like a hamburger". There's sick people in the world, that doesn't mean there is anything paranormal about it.
What they put in bath salts is different from what is in meth, coke, and ecstacy.
Mephodrone, and other "synthetic" substances are added in bath salts, bath salts are "Designer drugs" they are made in labs, by taking a substance, such as THC, which is found in marijuana, and changing them a tiny bit so they are legal, that is how they make k2, or spice.
If you have ever tried k2, you would notice that it has a different affect than marijuana, as when i smoke marijuana, i feel calm and relaxed, but when i smoke k2 i feel pumped and violent.
I have never tried bath salts, but they are really brutal, you can easily take too much and if you have ever did research on designer drugs, then you would also know that most of these drugs bring out inner underlying conditions, even worse, such as if this man was already crazy, the drugs would make him crazier, plus with the added affects of the drugs he was on, it could make him eat a mans face, you never know what people will do when they are high on any drug, especially bath salts, it "was" made for human consumption, but it "wasn't" on the label it says, "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION" so there is obviously some health risks involved, drugs are not good all around but especially bath salts, and especially if he had an underlying condition that the drugs might have brought out in him.

Different people react differently to drugs like these. They can range from a weightlessness and a happy, giggly high, to extreme cases of people mutilating themselves (like cutting off their own face) or harming others. In extreme cases, people are NOT themselves. The Eugene case, for instance, said that he was trying to get off of marijauna and was looking to religion to save him. He carried a Bible and read verses daily (as stated by his girlfriend). And he tries to eat someone's face? Also, it wasn't the homeless person who acted like a zombie. It was a person who was seemingly sane, had family, and lived with his girlfriend in an apartment. I don't agree with the bath salt theory, either, but it has to be something.
You honestly think the government would tell us about this if it was real? No, the answer is, whatever this disease is, the government is trying to make it seem like nothing. That's what they want us to think, so then we calm down and go back to our little sheep-like behaviors. I'm not saying this is 100% a zombie virus or anything, I'm saying that unless the people do their own investigations into it, we won't know the truth. It wouldn't hurt to be a little extra cautious about this, though, with the whole thing about the rashes.
Okay i am as cynical as it gets when it comes to most things.. I have a good BULLSH*T Radar.. I dont know if the cause of all these stories is a virus called "LQP-79" But i think we can all agree that SOMETHING is going on. Its not a trend of copycats trying to re enact "SILENCE OF THE LAMBS" or any ZOMBIE THEMED films. Common sense would tell you it CANNOT BE BATH SALTS.. mainly because there are similar attacks ALL OVER THE WORLD and those chemicals have not been linked in most.. The LQP-79 may very well be something made up by some guy looking for a few laughs.. but to come to the conclusion that it is impossible that a virus is the cause of these events just because the CDC hasn't confirmed it.. is just IGNORANCE.. This kind of stuff happens all the time, BUT, because 1 story was brought to the surface, many others must in order to keep peoples attention, thats how the news companies make their money.
Okay here is the way i see it. We can not prove if it was truly from bath salts or a disease. The only way to find out the truth is to let things play out, and see what the future brings. I seriously doubt there will be a "zombie" outbreak, but hey, I nor anyone else can tell what the future brings. All we can do is pay attention, attempt to sort out the facts from the lies that people say and hope for the best.
Also on a side note: As a generally open minded teenager i see why people want the "Apocalypse" to happen. Call of Duty, Resident Evil and other zombie based video games have added a delusion of fun to a zombie outbreak. While these people think it would be fun to run through a city lighting up zombies or what not, they would probably be some of the first to die.
I do not believe in this virus, as of yet but I have an open mind about how it could possibly exist. I do find it very strange how the CDC have lately posted a comic strip on how to survive a Zombie Pandemic and how there adverts say "If you are prepared for a zombie Apocalypse, then you are ready for an emergency"

What I'd like to know is way everyone is 'wanting' this virus/disease to be real? Why would you want that? Why would you want to live in a world where you have to worry about your friends/family/neighbors wanting to eat you or visa versa? I'm not saying it isn't real, from the research I've been doing over that last few hours I can't find any solid evidence that it is, so for now I'm going to agree with Turk. Just can't understand why people are so hyped about having to defend their lives from cannibal zombies.

No, LQP-79 is nt a virus but it is real, its a unknown bacteria that has been found in the waters of Florida, New Jersey, and other places..theres also a chemical that was found in several cannible cases in Florida before the attacks...It seems a lot of cannible stuff is happening in Florida the most at the moment. But the bactria is legit, a school in Florida shut down because they are worried about it...and tests of it still have not come forward and its been a month now..That is unusal. Something is happening, but to say its zombies idk..who knows maybe 2012 will happen, like demons posessing people maybe??

see the problem with your theory is, this is not an isolated case! 7 reported cases since march!!! thats right! 7 cases of men stripping naked, growling and showing super human strength. all tried to, and most were successful at eating their victims. I love how the ignorant are blaming drugs for this and there is no toxicology report yet!

These cases have similar outcomes, but they are most definitely unrelated. One stated that God made him do it, one stated that they were worried about the end of the world, and in one of the other cases, the guy just did it for fun... The geographic locations, with the exception of the ones in Florida, and the time periods are inconsistent. However, I like how you have backed up your theory, and I will most certainly look further into what you have put in front of me.
really they all have the same story. Its the end of the world, they have to find the devil and kill him before the world ends. They think the devil is inside the person they are killing... And no matter the motive, all outcomes are the same...
Just cuz the out come is the same doesn't mean shit, every day ppl get shot. There are millions of cases with the same out come, unrelated. John wayne gacy ate people, there are a lot of random cases of people eating people, doesn't mean there "zombies"
The outcomes are the same, but the cases themselves have major differences, let alone the geographical disposition. But as I said, I will read into it further.
ok first i'm going to ask a simple question that nobody has yet to ask. Why would a homeless guy have Bath Salts????? one he has no tub, second i'm sure he would rather buy a meal or maybe some a 40oz of Colt 45 and not some bath salts..i mean seriously it's like an oxymoron here. Now maybe pcp i can see, but do you know how many other people (babies i'm sure included) have in some way digested this stuff? i'm sure at some point we all have i can count myself here with the wife having fun in the wirlpool hottub, so to say it's bath salts is just as made up. Do some research...first off the bath salts in question are not just bath salts. they are a new age synthetic drug that has been disguised and marketed as bath salts in order to be sold over the counter without regulation. There have been laws passed recently to make this drug and all sales of it illegal. there is an episode of "intervention" on aetv.com about it and numerous accounts of this drug causing people to behave in ways outside of their norm...a common denominator being public or excessive nudity. However, i do not claim to have done enough research to know if any other case in question has involved the cannibalistic culprit being naked. Secondly, not one article suggests that the homeless man had said bath salts, or bought them for his bath tub, or for any other purpose. Furthermore, statistic suggest that many, if not most, people who are homeless have some sort of addiction or vice that is preventing them from bettering themselves, in which case they would NOT rather buy a meal or anything other than what they are addicted too. in conclusion, the idea of bath salts being the culprit is not as far fetched as you may think. Another factor to consider is human natures attraction to and fascination with all things paranormal. Contrary to the point you think i am making, where is the cdc to confirm or deny? If this is nothing than say so...if it has merit then educate us on how to protect ourselves or prevent exposure, you would think that someone would have made an official statement by now even if simply to prevent the mass hysteria that would likely occur if lqp-79 was indeed what people ar claiming it to be.

Well you saying that bath salts is just as made up as the virus then you are clearly not in touch with todays society. People are nuts and will do anything to get high, whatever type of high they are looking for. Bath salts and K2 are very real and INCREDIBLY dangerous. Actually they both were homless..and one was fully naked and the other was semi naked, no pants.
regardless if it was or not. my point is just that, not even bath salts let alone pcp is going to make you eat a person, let alone EAT PERIOD, and there's never been out of 60 + years of Pcp or Lsd cases where some man or woman has done anything like this. but my point stands Bath salt's, Pcp or Lsd aren't going to make you hiss at the cops take 5 shots and continue to eat a person. you show me evidence that it could (government files from testing LSD and other drugs would be great.) then i'll maybe, maybe think there's some fact to a drug doing this. All of these events are completely unrelated, and in my opinion, I would say they are all the effects of some sort of drug in each case. What drug is it? I have no clue. But I see no evidence or history that there is such a thing as LQP-79 virus. Therefore, I am not convinced. If I see some hard evidence or a statement that says that there is such a thing other than a mock article, I will correct myself.
I watched a show called beyond the dark lands once and this lady had killedbher husband, chopped him up and fed him to her kids, she wasnt on drugs, she was just mental.. If bath salts, MDPV, do cause the feeling of being overheated then that does explain him being naked. I read above a story of someone on pcp, sounds more like the person was possessed. It is possible, you's have a lot of supporting facts for it being a drug but there are so many cases of it where it just cant be a drug.. If that comment about the soldiers being eaten is true and can beproved true then i dont believe it was because of drugs..
Now i'm just hypothesizing here ,but what if this man had prion disease. It is know to make people go crazy. It is usually contracted by eating something already infected ( a human per chance? ) or it could be genetic ( we don't know yet ). Then say this man also was on the influence of drugs. There is nothing to say that he would not do such a thing.
