Tasty recipes to keep in shape
Time and again, we try different methods and ways to lose weight but usually end up losing our minds over it instead. It is all a very simple matter if understood the right way. It is all just a matter of burning more calories than you eat. It sounds very simple but the situation is complicated by that strongest muscle in our body, the tongue, that is not satiated by the variety of flavors it has access to and wants more and more, even when the stomach is satisfied.
People who find it a tad too difficult to go to their neighborhood gyms, the routine morning walk or starve themselves have another way to lose weight , just by getting a little creative in the kitchen. Its all about choosing healthy foodstuffs that perform a dual purpose, that of satisfying the stomach as well as satiating our tongues.
There needs be a variety and different textures of flavors in our food to be at peace with oneself and for a feeling of general bonhomie. Everyday need not be a struggle, but it should become an endeavor to develop different flavors in healthy eating options.
Listed below are two of my favorite recipes that fulfill both purposes :
Baked Potato Club Sandwich:
Ingredients: 1) Two mashed potatoes
2) Two Green chilies and boiled peas
3) Salt and red chili powder (according to taste)
4) Diet Mayonnaise (Fun Foods)
5) Shredded cabbage (half cup)
6) Chili Flakes
7) Low fat cheese slices
8) Breadcrumbs
Method:
Mash the potatoes and mix in chopped green chillies, salt and red chili powder. Also mash the boiled peas with your hands and mix them in. Mix some breadcrumbs into the mixture. Make a tiki-like shape of the mixture and again coat it with breadcrumbs. Leave it in the oven to bake till it starts to get brown and develops a grilled texture.
Meanwhile, take two spoons of the diet mayonnaise in a bowl and mix in the shredded cabbage and add the chilli flakes (also knows as peprika).
Toast bread for the sandwiches in the toaster or oven. After the bread has been toasted, spread the mayonnaise paste and place the baked tiki on top . Add the fat free cheese slice. (Use one cheese slice for two sandwiches by cutting small pieces and spreading it evenly) .
The baked potato tiki can also be eaten alongwith the mayonnaise paste and some ketchup without making a sandwich with it.
Low fat Spanish Omlette
Ingredients: 1) Egg whites
2) Green chillies (chopped)
3) Chopped tomatoes
4) Chopped onions
5) Peprika
6) Olives
Mix all the ingredients together and beat it in a bowl. The more you beat, the fluffier and better the omlette will become. Heat one spoon of oil on the pan and spread the omlette . Let it cook for awhile and turn it over after a while. Fold the omlette and serve with chili sauce.
