Symptoms of stroke or heart attack can be confusing. If you have any of these symptoms go to the emergency room right away. Don’t try to drive yourself. Call 911 immediately. EMT's are prepared for emergencies and can offer assistance until you reach the hospital.

How do you know if you are having a stroke? If you are having facial numbness, trouble balancing, arm weakness or slurred speech call 911. The longer it takes to get treatment the higher the risk of disability or even death. Reversing the damage means getting emergency treatment as soon as possible. That’s why you should call 911. The EMT's will recognize stroke and render emergency treatment if at all possible.

Chest pain doesn’t always mean a heart attack. It can be caused by indigestion, or any number of things. That’s why it’s so hard to pin chest pain down. You might experience arm pain, face or neck pain, or heaviness and pressure in your chest. You can overreact many times but you can’t under react many times. If you are experiencing any of this pain, have it checked out and find out why.

Women especially can have pain in the jaw or neck and might never connect it to a heart attack. Men are more likely to have a heavy feeling of pressure in the chest. In any case see your doctor if you don’t go to the emergency room. It’s always safer to get it checked out.
