This is my first post about my quest to get Super Fit. Thought of calling it the "Fit as a Fiddle" series but......nah....thats outdated
If you are like me,stuck behind a desk in a cubicle the whole day long, then I believe this could really help you....
I have no empty conference rooms in my office where I can exercise.....and no, I can't have an exercise ball for a chair :-) And if I even think of wasting precious office time going to the gym,my manager would have a COW!!!!!!
So here are a couple of things I do to get some exercise in office.Try these if you like....and remember, the results are cumulative and every little bit helps. And Remember, let all your movements be gradual and slow and easy and smooth , no jerks (except when you are jogging and stuff).
I start with the neck .This is desk-exercise.If you do it at your desk in plain view of your colleagues, you will not get wierd looks. So lets start :
1. Bend your head sideways to touch your shoulder.Do it alternately towards the right and left.I usually do this 10 times on each side.If you can't touch your shoulder, just bend as much as you can with ease.....don't push your self.....you will get more flexible with time.
2. Now bend your head forward from the neck and try to touch your chest with your chin.Next bend your head back as far as it goes.Again I do this 10 times.
3. Turn your head left and look behind your back while not moving the rest of your body.Turn your head as far as it will go.Now turn right and do the same same thing.10 times per side.
4. Bend your head sideways to touch your shoulder. Now rotate your head clockwise (about 160 degrees) till it touches the other shoulder.Dont go all the way around (360 degrees) as that can strain the side joints of the neck and cause inflammation.Next rotate your head anti-clockwise towards the other shoulder.I do each side 6 times.
We are now done with the neck exercises.
