There was once an electronic music artist named Mixman86 who had a difficult time trying to promote his music in the United States... That would be the start of my story if I was writing a fairy tale or fable. But I am a struggling electronic music artist with the alias Mixman86. My music is sold on iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster, I promote on my Twitter of the same name, I have a Facebook page, and a Youtube channel where I place released and unreleased work. So you think I would be kind of popular by now, right?

Wrong.

I have received 75% of my downloads in Russia and another 10% of them in Belarus. Only around 3% of my downloads come from the United States. Sure, house electronic music is more popular in Europe, but at the same time, it gets quite infuriating to see that I have tried and tried to promote and spent numerous amounts of money releasing these singles (I am not signed to a record label) and yet I cannot make a profit. It honestly does get on my nerves and now, here I am writing articles to make money and in a couple months, I will probably have matched the cash I have made for a whole year's worth of effort in the music industry.

I have three singles released: The New World (3/2011), Alter Force (7/2011), and Wobbly (12/2011). I put hours of effort into every one of these songs and yet, here I am struggling to make a profit. The New World continues to be my most popular single to date, being a new age techno song of epic proportions at points. Wobbly, my newest single, is an acid house song with lots of delay put in it, chronicling the night of a drunk driver and has some funny moments. Nonetheless, they are not selling well enough.

I have struggling to find new and inventive ways to promote my music, but they all have fallen short. I am currently on a hiatus from music right now to work on writing articles because at least writing articles makes me a profit and actually pays me. Maybe I will pick up music again soon, but not right now. Right now, I am R. Turk, an article writer for expertscolumn.com. Mixman86 will have to wait his turn.

Give me a track, and I'll put a melody down that it'll make you blow up.
