Today I am writing about another old and very well known educational institution of Pakistan. The school’s name is St. Marys Cambridge School and is located on the very famous Murree road of Rawalpindi in Pakistan. The school was founded in 1949 and is one of the oldest independent running schools in Pakistan. The school’s founder was Fr. Thysen. The school is owned, managed and affiliated with Roman Catholic Diocese of Islamabad-Rawalpindi.

The school is presently located at the building which was previously used as a hospital by Holy Family Hospital. When the hospital shifted to a new building during the sixties the building was handed over to the school.

The Murree road branch of the school only provides education to the boys. The classes are from playgroup to grade 10 commonly known as matric in Pakistan. Board exams are held for class eight and matric exams. The students study either science or computer science subjects. The school has three main blocks while a separate block is dedicated for the primary education. The names and colors of the blocks are Thysen block yellow color, Iqbal block green color, Jinnah block blue color and Liaquat block red color.

There are good facilities for sports with a playground catering for the needs of cricket and football. There are also courts for basketball and volleyball sport while an outdoor court for badminton.

Notable students of the school who studied in the school include Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Nishahn-e-Haider Pakistan Air Force, General Jehangir Keramat Ex-Chief of the Army Staff, General Asif Nawaz Ex-Chief of the Army Staff, Waseem Sajjad a popular politician and Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider Pakistan Army.

The school has maintained the quality of education it provides to the students and has set a very high standard of education. Hopefully the school shall continue to provide the same standard of education it is presently providing.
