St. Jacob’s Church is one of the famous churches of Germany. It is located in the historic city of Rothenburg. It is interesting to know that this city is characterized by the presence of many old buildings and very few modern ones. This is because of the fact that a lot of effort is taken to preserve the olden architecture in the city. St. Jacob’s Church is one example of the architecture of the olden times. It is believed that most buildings in the city of Rothenburg in Germany are at least 700 years old!

St. Jacob’s Church is believed to have been built around 1544 AD. This Lutheran church is spectacular to behold. It is extremely impressive primarily because of its lofty towers. The interiors of this church are splendid to look. In fact there are two altars here. It is said that the famous carver, Tilman Riemenschneider had designed these two altars. As a matter of fact Tilman Riemenschneider is often referred to as the Michelangelo of the carvers of wood!

St. Jacob’s Church is often considered a very important church in the whole of Germany. The fact that it is located in one of the cities that gives a lot of significance to olden buildings adds to its importance. There is a lot of traditional significance attached to this particular church in the sense that it has a small crystal housed in a high altar designed by yet another carver by name, Friedrich Herlin that holds a spot of blood of Jesus. Tens of thousands of tourists visit the St. Jacob’s Church in the city of Rothenburg with a view to behold the great statue of Jesus that depicts him in a praying posture. St. Jacob’s Church has been a very popular spot of tourist interest in Rotheburg along with the Christmas Shop that is kept open throughout the year!
