Now a day’s most of people use windows xp for their personal and office use. Windows xp provide great features and enhancement in the means of security(Firewall, Service Pack), presentation(Themes, Visual Effects, Sounds etc.) and stability, so the user always rely on the performance and effectiveness of computer. For boost the speed of winxp there are many ways and it depends on the user that what he needs with his operating system. We can speed up our system by following methods.

1) Make non required services disabled i.e. Indexing, System Restore, UPnP service (For Enhance Security) and keep safe from internet attack, Remote Desktop, Themes (If you don’t have enough memory and low graphics acceptable for you). For implement just go Start->Run Dialog Box->Type(Services.msc)->Ok. Services window appeared on screen and select the given services one by one double click on it and choose startup type DISABLED and ok. If you need in future any service enable it through same procedure.

2) Remove non required startup programs through click on Start Menu and then select RUN Dialog Box and type MSCONFIG and click ok. This will bring System Configuration Utility on screen. Select startup tab and remove ticks from programs like messenger etc. Select Services Tab and make tick on option Hide All Microsoft Services. View the services and remove the tick from service you don’t need.

3) Keep only shortcut links of file, folders and software’s on Desktop due to small size and remove from it Files, Folders and Software other place or partition to improve startup speed. You can reduce visual effects too through Right Click on My Computer Icon on Desktop and select Properties. Then choose Advanced Tab and Setting button under Performance heading and choose the option button (Adjust the Best Performance) and click ok two times. You can gain some speed through removal of startup sound too.
