Vacation travel can be as tiring as a week's work before a vacation. To get ready for a vacation takes planning not only the trip, but what to take, what to do when you get to vacation spots, how and what to eat in big cities if you are traveling to one and mostly what to pack and what not to pack when going on vacation. A major concern when traveling out of the country is the safety of legal documents.

Having to carry legal documents at any time outside can be a major inconvenience if the documents are lost or stolen. The danger of identity theft is great and the possibility of paper documents getting damage is also great. In many cases now, a Photo ID is not enough to travel from one region of the world to another.

When traveling from some states to an island, a passport is acceptable for identification. State ID's are no longer enough for identification in traveling for instance from anywhere in New York State to Puerto Rico even though it is considered part of America. Visitors to Puerto Rico need a copy of their birth certificate and photo ID to enter and leave the island.

A smart way to travel is to obtain an Enhanced Photo ID that serves the purpose of all identifiable documents embedded into the card. Birth Certificates and personal address information is on a chip inside the card with a readable bar code on the back. The Enhanced Photo ID currently is optional in many states and is more expensive, yet traveler's who want the convenience of dealing with less paper trail while traveling may want to use an Enhanced Photo ID as a viable method for identification. Go to your motor vehicle to obtain the card. When using the EPI, it could help save time, since using paper identification documents have different lines when traveling. With an Enhanced Photo ID, the need to use a passport is unnecessary in many cases as well. Using an Enhanced Photo ID could be a smart way to travel to aid in less stress and adding to a fun vacation.
