The members of the early community give their contribution of time and effort in order to make their way of life a success. Do we do the same for our respective community? Are we finding ways in order to serve it? Are there ways to be a helping hand to our community?
Our community requires or helps as well as our cooperation in prayer. Paul was called on to serve God be means of serving the community. He generously gave his time and sacrifices even without getting paid. As a matter of fact, he had to employ himself as tentmaker in order to support his needs for survival. Yet, Paul never faltered in his chosen mission.
As Christians, we too are called to offer our service to God. Sometimes, we may feel tired that we do not want to exert our efforts to help. Sometime we are so interested that we offer everything in order to make our community a better place to live. Can we compare our generosity with Paul? In what way was he good to his community?
Despite the persecution that he was subjected to, Paul continued his mission of spreading the Gospel to everyone who is thirsty of the word. His practice is a virtue which basically required self-discipline and endurance of hardship for the love of God and his neighbor. Do we have these virtues that he had?
We must start to be good to our self, extend this goodness to our families and hopefully it can spread out to our community. For sure, the Lord will be overwhelmed that we get to be involved in celebrating God's love with the community.
