Many people today wonder if it is better to have an office job or it is better to work for yourself. There are certainly pros and cons to both, but the decision is completely up to you. Contrary to popular belief, there are a plethora of ways to make money through self employemnt. However, many question the stability of the jobs that you can work as your own boss. Many scratch there heads and wonder which one is better: self employment or standard employment?
Standard employment is defined as a regular job, whether in an office or other environment, where you are hired as an employee to work under a boss and you answer to the people higher up than you on the business hierarchy. You are hired to perform a certain job or jobs with a specific skill set that you excel at and you go to work every morning at a set time and leave every afternoon at a set time. It is very regimented, very scheduled, and very structured, and remember, there will always be someone telling you what to do, unless you spontaneously reach the CEO position of the company you work for. However, your payment is guaranteed as long as you are working there and doing what you are told. They will also pay you more, the more tenure you have as a worker.
Self employment is defined as holding a job in which you are the only one you answer to and you are the one promoting your own services. Self employment can have high risk and high reward at the same time. For one thing, you do not have to answer to anyone but yourself. However, keeping yourself motivated maybe hard at time and there is no one telling you that something has to be done by a specific time. You start and end your day at whatever time you choose and have the freedom to take breaks whenever and for however long. The biggest problem is the risk of getting paid a lot in one month and not getting paid another month. Payment fluctuates and there is no set amount due to you; you make whatever you get.
Overall, neither type of employment is better than the other, but your preference will be completely based on what type of person you are. Are you someone who must have a certain amount paid to them by a certain date or are you someone who can manage your money and manage yourself? Whatever way you answer that question is the path that you should certainly take.
