REWARD FOR A MAN OF INTEGRITY

Text: Proverbs 20: 7 – The righteous man walks on his integrity; his children are blessed after him (New King James Version).

We learnt in yesterday’s devotion that God rewards us according to our deeds (Romans 2: 6). In our text is the promise of a reward for a man of integrity. Integrity means the ‘quality of being honest and upright in character’. Can you list up to 10 men/women of integrity in your neighbourhood? What can you say about their children today? Can you also list 10 men/women who are not upright in our locality? What is the condition of their children today? Now, is the word of this our text true or false?

Any Christian without integrity is a disgrace to God and the world. Regrettably, it is so in our society today. A pastor will kill, tell lies to exhort money from people and commit all manner of evil, how much more ordinary members of the Church. Think of traders, civil servants, teachers, students, bus conductors and their drivers, car/motorcycle owner and their operators, can we find integrity amongst them? The list is endless. Can you suggest why integrity is lacking in our society today?

Read the testimony of Paul in 2 Corinthians 1: 12 for there are challenges for our present day Christians? What does the society know you for; a fraudster, cheat or honest man/woman? Joseph is an example of man of integrity. If you remain upright and honest, God will reward you and your posterity.

Food for Thought: “To be honest as this world goes is to be one man picked out of a thousand”- Shakespeare.

Prayer Point:
1. Ask for the grace to walk in integrity.
2. Bind every spirit of dishonesty in your life
3. Ask God to bless you and your home as walk in integrity
