Renault Car Sharing Program With Electric Twizy in France

Renault announced few days ago that 100 Renault electric Twizy will be given to St Quentin city to start an experiment about electric car sharing in town, this project will start on 21st of June and if it will have success in September the project will be trasformed in a real model for car sharing with the objectif to propose it to other french towns and communities.

The french automotive car maker is the first one that since 2006 believed on electric cars and sustainable transportation, in fact Renault today is offering a series of electric cars on sale with more models to come soon: Fluence, Twizy, Kangoo...now waiting for the Zoe a small family car fully electric announced for after summer time.

Renault Twizy is the right model to try for this car sharing experiment, the car is a two places fully electric with a tandem position, called the "urban crossover" it is half car and half scooter. It has a very modern design and is targetting young generations and also people that work already, safer than a scooter thanks to its four wheels it has an airbag on steerringwheel and 2 seat belts. It is short and narrow for agile driving and easy parking the goos thing is that we do not need a driver license to drive it...inconvinient is no freeways.

Renault Twizy is not too expensive being an electric car because of the business plan the french automaker decided to adopt: you do not buy the batteries but you make a sort of subscription for the batteries service paying 45 euros a month. Thanks to this business model prices are not expensive for an electric car.
