It's Fall and starting to turn crisp and cool outside. It's the perfect time of year to pick up some apples at your local orchard or grocery store and bake a delicious pan of Laurie's Yummy Apple Crisp. This treat is good anytime of the day and it also makes a great treat to go with a cup of coffee, too.

Here is your shopping list. You'll need:

4 cups of Macintosh Apples or Granny Smith Apples, any apple will work fine*
3/4 cup Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Flour
1/2 cup Quick Oats
3/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
1/2 Cup of Butter (softened)

*Optional- One Tablespoon of Lemon Juice (If you like a more tart desert use the lemon juice, also use lemon juice if using really sweet apples.)

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Peel and cut your apples. In a greased 9x9 pan, either glass or metal, lay out your apples on the bottom of the pan. Try to spread them out evenly. In a large bowl mix together your flour, brown sugar, Quick oats, cinnamon, nutmeg, and softened butter. Also, add your lemon juice now if desired. Stir all the ingredients until they are mixed thoroughly together. After being mixed, sprinkle your bowl of ingredients over the apples. Bake in your preheated oven at 375 for 30 minutes.

Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired. The Apple Crisp is also excellent cool.
