Reason Obama Was Not Invited To The Royal Wedding

The official reason why the United States President Barack Obama was not invited to the royal wedding of the decade.
The wedding of Prince William of Wales and Kate Middleton as we all know took place at Westminster Abbey on the 29th of April 2011.
A lot of very prominent guests all over the world were invited but there is one person everybody thought would get the first invite – Obama. And a lot of us were surprised why of all people; the United States President Mr. Barack Obama was not invited to the Royal Wedding.
His wife – Michelle Obama – the first lady of the United States was also not invited.

One would have thought that Obama and wife Michelle would have been given the first and a ‘royal’ invitation to the royal wedding! But alas! This was not to be so!
And this brings us to the question: Why the most powerful man on earth was not invited to the royal wedding?
The answer to this question was given by the British officials. They said the U.S. President was not given an invitation to attend the royal wedding not because they did not wish him to be present there but simply because of the additional security that they would have to summon up to protect the U.S President during his stay in Britain. It was going to take a lot to summon up adequate security for Barack Obama’s safety. Secondly, they also said that since the Wedding was not a State event there was no point inviting the U.S President.

Some people have however given their doubts to the answer given by the British authorities as to why Obama was not invited – they see it as a deliberate snub against the U.S. President.
According to official reports from the British Royal Family, more than half of the guests invited were family members and friends of the couple. The remaining half of the guests included very important personalities and leaders from all over the world.
In all, over 2000 guests were invited for the royal wedding of the decade.
It was estimated that the royal wedding was watched on TV and on the Internet by as many as two billion people worldwide.
And I guess President Barack Obama and wife Michelle were amongst those of us who watched the Royal Wedding from the ‘comfort’ of our homes.
