Raising the dead

RAISING THE DEAD.
(Joh 5:21) For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

Her name is Sarah, she was engaged to a prayer partner and friend of mine called Warren, she is also a lawyer working with the Nigerian Bar Association in Kaduna, Nigeria and her wedding date was fixed for 28th August 2009. She came to Lagos two weeks before the wedding and they both came to pay me a visit at home. On their way out, were going I asked her if she has finally returned to Lagos for the wedding? She replied, saying she was only in Lagos to do one or two things, and was heading to Port Harcourt the next day for a conference where she will be opportuned to invite some colleagues for the wedding. Sarah took time to add that the wedding will coincide with another conference holding in Lagos which will end a day before. Her explanation sounded logical but I didn’t feel comfortable with the idea globetrotting deal with the D-day just around the corner and I told her that much. They left but three days later her fiancé called me to inform me that she was involved in a motor accident at Benin on her way back from the conference and she is feared dead. We prayed and he left for Benin. Sarah died! She saw herself in heaven but by the time Warren got to the hospital and started calling her name and releasing his faith, she rose from the dead!
I have been told many times that only the most favoured individuals gets to rise up from the dead, names and titles of renowned Christians who died have been thrown in my face as evidence that raising the dead is almost always a combination of luck and coincidence. I beg to disagree. One million dead people does not make God unfaithful or prove Him to be a Liar, they only spotlight how much of our power and authority we have squandered away due to doctrine and religion. We operate in unbelief and refuse to acknowledge the fact that we have been delegated the authority and power to raise the dead, heal the sick and do greater works than Jesus. We sit and expect God to perform the magic while we watch. No wonder our princes are more of paupers. If God needed to come in the form of a man to save the world, is it too much to see that he needs the form of a man (you) to establish his kingdom by spreading the good news and performing miracles? How many more souls are you willing to let perish while you are blaming God? Wake up, Christian!
Prayer: Father, use me today to bring down your presence in signs wonders and miracles in Jesus name. Amen.

GOD’S JURISDICTION.
Luke 9: 54-56. And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
The two important ministries God reserved for himself are Judgement and Vengeance! Rom 12:19, Luke 6: 37 and Deut. 32 clearly instructs us to do away with both. In the passage above, Jesus on his way to Jerusalem sent some disciples to go ahead of him and prepare a place for him to stay over in Samaria. The Samaritans refused him, not because they hate him but because of their long standing feud with the Jews who regard them as impure gentiles and do not permit them to worship in Jerusalem even though their histories were intertwined. James and John could not believe that the same people who proclaimed Jesus the messiah in John 4:42 would reject them now. They wanted to lash out and punish the ingrates. They wanted to make the Samaritans an example for other ‘would be’ offenders. They wanted blood. They asked Jesus to permit them to do a repeat of the Mount Carmel experience where Elijah demonstrated the supremacy of God before the Baal worshippers. The son of David remembered that his father in 1 Sam 25, had once protected the assets of a rich man named Nabal from wild animals, raiders and marauders only for the man to insult David when he sent ten young men to politely ask Nabal for some provision. David swore to kill Nabal and was on his way to redeeming his oath when Abigail, Nabal’s wife intervened. David eventually thanked God for withholding him from avenging himself. So Jesus called James and John to order, he told them that the spirit that lives in them now does not crave for revenge, it is a life giving spirit.
What is it that you have suffered and feel only ‘Justice’ or ‘Revenge’ can take the pain away. Have you been abused, used and dumped, jilted, betrayed, stabbed in the back, neglected, abandoned, raped, imprisoned for an offence you know nothing about, sacked unjustly, victimized, disrespected, robbed, molested, swindled, handicapped physically, mentally or spiritually, defamed, broken or shattered by a person, a group, a company or a nation. Please let go, relieve yourself of that burden, all of it. Bring those free flowing tears and agony. Bring the pains, the nightmares and the memories. Come to Jesus. He is the Judge of the whole earth. Vengeance belongs to him! Tell it to him and believe that you can never have a better advocate. He will give you rest. And rather than the bitter taste that the unjust judgment of this world leaves in one’s mouth. You will have a fresh start and a new spirit.
