The question here is what would make a person dislike and hate another person simply because of the person’s skin or ethnicity?
Is the answer to the above question really because of a lack of intelligence? I somehow agree with that.
The only conclusion that I can come to is that racism is as a result of lack of intelligence – Joey Barton.
These were the exact words of English footballer Joey Barton.
Joey Barton who is an avid fighter against prejudice and discrimination has described racism as a result of total lack of intelligence and understanding.
“It is ignorance or a fear of what people don’t know and don’t understand” the Queens Park Rangers’ captain said
The Queen’s Park Rangers captain, whose brother was convicted in 2005 for a racially motivated murder, said he was shocked when he played along with black player Shaun Wright-Philips in Montenegro when spectators began racist chant against Shaun Wright-Philips.
“There was virtually a whole stand doing monkey chants” he said “I remember looking at them and thinking ‘what’s going on?’”
Joey Barton’s brother Michael Barton was involved in the racially motivated murder of Anthony Walker in 2005, which saw him being sentenced to life imprisonment.
I personally agree partly with Joey Barton’s statement. Racism can come as a result of lack of intelligence and also due to hate, envy and fear.
Some schools of thoughts also say that racism comes because of ignorance and close mindedness.

I think we have a built-in fear of the 'different' and it's not that big a step from fear to hate.
I agree with you on that.
