Pasta is possibly one of the few meals that can be both very versatile, yet simple at the same time. While just about anyone can buy a can or jar of sauce, boil some noodles and make a meal, I usually like to make my own sauce as it is usually much healthier and still doesn't take too much work.

Today I am sharing a quick and easy recipe for Diablo sauce, which is basically a spicy marinara sauce that you can use for just about any occasion.
Cook Time
Prep time: 5 min
Cook time: 15 min
Ready in: 20 min
Yields: Serves 5 people or a pound of pasta
Ingredients

5 tablespoons Olive Oil
1 cup diced Onions
1/4 cup chopped Garlic
1 tablespoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
1 28 oz can Diced Tomatoes
1 cup Tomato Sauce, Optional

Instructions

Pour the olive oil into a pan and let it heat up.
Once the oil is hot, add in the onions until they are slightly caramelized(3-4 minutes).
Stir in the garlic and let it cook for 1 minute.
Stir in the red pepper flakes.
Add in the diced tomatoes with the juice and stir everything together for about 5 minutes. If you enjoy your pasta sauce with a little more body, add in a cup of canned pasta sauce as well.
For the remaining 5 minutes, you should add in your pre-cooked pasta and any meat/seafood so that the sauce cooks into it.
Once everything is cooked, toss it briefly in a bowl and serve.
