Friends, I want to get answer to one question through this article. “Why the mobile service providers in India ignoring the security problems while issuing new SIM card?”. Don’t understand? Have you ever bought a new SIM card from India? What is the procedure? Is it a secure method? Ok, let’s discuss.
We need a photo copy of our identity proof and one photo to take a new connection. Now a days, mobile service providers are competing to get maximum customers. They only want to get accelerate their growth. If I have a copy of identity card and one photo, I will easily get a new SIM. Even the retailer doesn’t checks whether that photo or id proof belongs to me or not. They simply gives new SIM card. They only wants a photo and identity proof. They doesn’t even check if that photo is mine. We know every country faces the problem of terrorism now days. So If a guy get a photo copy of my identity card and a photo (not necessary need my photo, because most of retailer doesn’t confirm the photo), he can get a new connection in my name. So if he misuses that connection, all problems have to face by me.
There are various solutions to this problem. Instead of accepting a signature, they insist the customers to put their thumb impression. By this no one can trap you with your identity card. There need some address verification method such that you can confirm your address to avoid fraud activities.
The government need to take some serious actions to improve security measures imposed by the mobile service providers. Readers can also suggest some other effective measures also.
