Health Insurance

Becoming ill or being hospitalized overseas are possibilities when traveling abroad.  Having a health insurance is an important travel document that will cover the cost of your medical treatment.  Check with your health insurance policy if traveling abroad is included.  If not, there are short-term health insurance policies for a period of time.  Ask travel agent in obtaining this type of health insurance.

If you have health conditions, request for a medical certification from your doctor that you are fit to travel.  The certification should also include a prescription of medicine to certify that you need to take these medicines when you travel.  Avoid transferring the medicines to another container, it is recommended to keep the original container with labels.

Money

Avoid a large amount of cash during travel, bring traveler’s check or credit card instead.  Make sure that you have the telephone number of your credit card company in case the card is lost or you will have a problem when using the credit card.

Bring a foreign currency of your destination country for telephone use, local transportation,  and purchasing personal small things.

Drivers License

If you have an international drivers license, bring it with you in case you need to drive at your destination place.
