'Paul' the Movie

Paul is a movie starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who also starred in Shaun of the Dead. The two English actors have starred in most movies together and they have become a comedy sensation in all of their films. Paul was also been written by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.

What is Paul About?

Paul is about two English guys, Graeme and Clive played by Simon Pegg and Simon Frost, who set off to America for an adventurous road trip on the UFO heartland. They are two crazy sci-fi geeks who love everything scientific. Whilst on their journey in their rented caravan, they run into a real alien named Paul who has been kept in Area 51 for many years. He is a small, green alien with an unusual personality who lives life to the full. He is on the escape from the government who want him dead, so they can experiment on him. He chooses the two geeks and takes them on a road trip they will never forget. They become very friendly with one another, which in the end Paul turns out to be the best alien they have ever met and he inspires them enormously.

One day, they end up having to take an extra passenger with them named Ruth, who is played by Kristen Wiig. She discovers Paul is an alien and collapses with shock. Her Christian beliefs end up being a waste of time for her when she realizes that a lot of things that she believed in are probably untrue since she has discovered Paul.

They all end up trying to get away from agents who are after Paul, so they drive their friendly alien to a spot where his space ship can pick him up and take him back home.

Was Paul a Successful Movie?

Paul was a very different movie from Simon Pegg's and Nick Frost's other movies, such as, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, as the setting for this movie was based in the USA. Most of their films are usually set in the UK. The humor in Paul is funny, but at times it does not bring out the comic greatness that has been shown in their previous movies. The story is unusual and adventurous based on an alien, but does this capture the excitement that many viewers and fans wanted? There are some parts of the movie that capture the believable feeling that many sci-fi fans look for in this type of story, but it just does not give out that special wow factor like their other stories have.

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost play their parts brilliantly giving their viewers and fans something great to watch. The story is great fun, but it lacks that spark that their previous movies had. Other than that it revealed some crazy moments that were exciting. Fans of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will want to see Paul no matter what, so it is recommended for all those great fans out there!
