If you ask a teenager what's the last book they read, 4 out of 5 of them will say "I don't remember, haven't ead a book since jr high school." Nowadays you can Sparknote a book for english class. Reading isn't even required to pass english class! Facebook has taken over our generation. The teenagers are zombies and Facebook is the drug.
There are other things to blame besides facebook like videogames and even the parents. However, you can't blame all the parents. We live in a materialistic world. Kids want the newest Iphone out or the new Macbook. Nobody says " I want that book that just came out.
I was suprised when people on Twitter were saying "Titanic was based on a true story?" That was one of the saddest things I read. When I was a kid, I was invoked by the story of Titanic and how it sank. It was a tragic event. I am scared for our future. Next thing you know, we'll have robots exploring the world and all its wonders while we are watching it on t.v. I'm scared that we'll end up like the fat people in Wall-E. Great movie though.

The new generation is certainly going to experience things virtually.
Yes there is a trend to less reading, which I also find sad.. Thank goodness it's not everybody who's like that!
What you said is quite true. I also share your views in this regard. Thank you for this interesting read.
