Need to meet someone new? That seems to be the “pick up” line people use to promote their dating sites. These sites have a sort of stigma attached to them, people often think there are these weird pedophile type people on these sites. Well they are half way right. There are weird people on these sites, but there are also those who really need to meet someone.
How do I know all this? Well I was one of them. At first it was a little overwhelming, but as soon as I got through all the “wrong” people so to speak, I actually made some good friends. Friends whom I use to chat to in the middle of the night when I couldn’t sleep, and who were there to give advice when I needed someone to talk to.
So how do you filter out the “wrong” people? Well it’s not as easy as one would think. Some of these people have been on the site a really long time and know exactly what not to say to avoid creating suspicion. Some of them are on there for completely the wrong reasons, and some, if you are gullible and naïve enough will pull you in.
However, if you are a good judge of character, and you don’t trust people easily, there is no reason why you to can not experience the fun of online dating. I say fun, yes mainly because if you have to go out and meet people do you really ever have enough time on a date to get to know someone? On these sites, you get to chat to these persons every day for as long as you both wish and you can really get to know these people. Then if you feel like its not going to work, you just say so and there are no hard feelings attached.
So would I recommend online dating? For sure! There are lots of other ways to meet new people, but would it be half as much fun?
